An Odd Failure.
In the fall, the hub on my best bike locked up while riding. It wasn't even under any real load.
Dated 1961, it's been trouble free and very smooth....

My experience/lesson learned is NOT to spin the wheel/hub without the indicator in place.
I was adjusting the hub play with the wheel in place and the key came out of its' "nest" and got chewed up.

I've swapped out the cogs on most of my bikes, 19,20 and 21T.
You'll need a new chain as well but it's worth it.

It's a non standard thread pitch.
The nuts are also softer than the axle to avoid stripping the axle itself.

The first time I tried to "fix" a hub I didn't.
I made it worse....
In general, these hubs are virtually bullet proof...
Hopefully the axle key didn't grind up...

Good advice! My collection has (at times) gotten the best of me and I look around and say "what the hell am I going to do with all of these bikes?"
In reality I actually only ride 2 or 3 of them....
