Agree, you probably need to get used to it, adjust it or find one that works for you. Changing saddles for me is a big pain as once it is dialed in I don't want to move it.

Yup, its at the weld of rolled and welded type tube. Has it always been there? Almost looks like perhaps poor finish at the tube level or at Motobecane, just a guess. Either way not great.

Honestly, to me it sounds like time for a new rim a 1/2" (0.500") lateral movement is pretty far out. If Aluminum check for cracking if you think you want to play with it, but I'd get a new rim.
