I had the same issue with my Giant Escape 2, so I ended up installing an extended (and slightly adjustable) stem. It made all the difference to me....

Hi Mack...Yes, the grips are working out quite well, and were easy to install/adjust. And as for tyres, I've ordered a pair of "32s" along with the appropriate tubes....
