The direct mount derailleur needs a b-link (bracket axle unit) to attach it to a standard derailleur hanger....

You have a derailleur with a dropout claw but you need a derailleur that attaches directly to the derailleur hanger.

Yours looks like it's attached in a vertical position, it's supposed to be attached in more horizontal position.
