Retro grouch is joking that older, heavier bikes are less desirable to a bike thief. Better locks are needed for a better bike, to the point that the bike is too valuable to be locked to a bike rack...

Hm. I'm not sure what to make of this. I mean, on one hand, it's good to know that I should look for a 7 speed recumbent bike.... but I've yet to find any 7 speed, recumbent bikes with storage space....
