BTW a low resting heart rate in an athlete is of zero concern. Easy money for cardiologists.

Me too. Which one did you buy? I've had a Tag for the last 15 years and it's in the shop again. Instead of fixing it, I could just buy a fancy HR watch. Apple Watch doesn't appeal to me.

Forerunner 35

My TAG is still going strong after 25 years of service. :)

I painted my garage for all of 30’ yesterday before saying screw it. Today, I told my wife that I was going for a long ride so she didn’t have to paint, either, if she didn’t want to but she said she was going to paint a little anyway.

OK, my secretary (both of us are retired) lives in the same subdivision as me and has a decorating interior business. As I’m leaving for my ride, she is walking by and I yelled at her to look at my garage. She says she’ll help my wife paint it for $100 (it’s a 25’x25’ with 10’ ceiling). My wife and I agreed and off I went on my ride.

I come home after 88 miles to a beautiful garage. Hell, I’d have paid $200!

Man. That was a hurty ride. Stupid wind is stupid. Dumb hills are dumb, too. And for whatever reason, my legs felt half-cooked less than an hour in to the ride. Maybe I'm not far enough removed from my frequent restroom visits a few days ago and maybe the ride was just a not a good decision from the get-go... but there's the specter of snow and rain this weekend, so whatever - I rode.

The Fall winds have kicked in here. They weren't bad today. But, that 5-6% grade a minute and a half into the ride on my single speed was no fun.

The sun was out, so it was shorts weather. That's nice.

Busy day. I had to cancel my usual club ride due to rain. But the rain was not too heavy, so I got on the SS and rode the trails into Philadelphia. I did get wet but still was fun. I got some gore shoe covers from ScamBay and they did a great job keeping my feet warm and dry. After the ride mrs datlas and I had a date, we went to Barnes & Nobel for a couple hours, then to Trader Joe's for shopping.

kudos

I'm not sure you are doing it right.

Did you have at least 1 of the 3 in use:
1 an awesome shovel
2 an awesome Marigold jacket
3 an awesome elegant, lightweight areo seatpost

BTW mrs datlas and I have our anniversary on Saturday. I wanted to go to Vedge but it's impossible to get a reservation. So we are going to V Street instead. Ever been?

I am under contract to produce the second edition of a huge book for a major academic publisher and one of my section editors is ghosting me, the publisher, and his contributing authors. He is a huge figure with a big lay media presence and there's nothing on the web nor any rumor to suggest he's incapacitated, dead, or in incarcerated, which would be the only conceivable excuses for this kind of behavior. If I ever see this guy again, it's not going to be pretty.

datlas 10-10-19 07:10 AM

Speaking of crap weather, my goal is to brave the elements until it's unsafe. I hope to hold off on re-activating Zwift account until sometime in November or December.

Is that the guy with the "cure" for Alzheimer's?? I read his book and it's all smoke and mirrors. Sad!
