Huffy owners unite! You have nothing too loose but your chains.
When I was a kid in the mid 60s, you could buy 51-54 Chevrolets for about $15 each and they were worth every penny. For the price of a new Huffy, you could buy three cars. Actually, the $15 ones in running condition were not that common, but you could buy them in pretty good working order for $50 all day long. Problem was affording the liability insurance. |
Any huffy owners active?
Looking Seriously into getting a huffy cranbrook.
I want to replace the handlebars with BMX style bars. Any one know if the mouth on the bracket/clamp will open up enough to slide the bars in or will I need to get a bmx mount? Pictures look like it might pry open far enough. I am so ready to replace this mongoose status 2.2 Thank you Jim |

I think it's a standard 22.2 MM BMX stem ad it worked perfect. Will work for BMX bars too........

I would suggest looking at & perhaps riding one of today's Huffys before passing judgment on them. Many of the 'expensive' brands are made in China these days too. I have seen some very nice bikes made in China. Some of the brands I've seen that are made in China - Raleigh, Specialist, & Huffy just to name a few.

I mean is it really hard to pedal like starting out in 5th gear or what? Have a few slow tapering hills in my area and don't want To have to over work myself. I don't remember having any issues with my last normal type bike but that was 30 years ago..... Wrestling between single and 7 speed but I don't like messing with derailleurs. .. Ugggg Thanks for all your help. Jim |
I have a 44 tooth BMX ring on black/blue bike which is better than the larger stock 48 tooth, but the chrome Huffy has a 38 tooth gear which makes for easy pedaling and hills are no problem. Only downfall of the small ring is top speed is limited to like 12 mph, but it's a cruiser and I am fine with that.

Time for a Revival;
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...a35c8c468.jpeg USA made Huffy Tulsa. I added the aluminum wheels to make it less heavy, not light. Smooth riding bike that I sold to a delivery guy |
Another nice US made bike. Named after the town next to the Bronx in New York. This one stayed in Brooklyn.

I'm always on the lookout for one of those yellow & brown 10-speed Huffy Scouts from the 70s. Barely different than the K-mart-branded Huffy I had back then, but you could tell that whoever assembled them for store display took more pride in the job.
