Enve G Series Gravel Handlebar?

I'm trying to get a sense for how vertical the brake/shift levers would be mounted on this.

Also, any general user feedback?

I don't have them and can't say how the levers actually mount, but I like my levers to be angled on flared drop bars. The are much more comfortable when they are angled and they allow easy access to the brake levers from the drops, where my hands usually are when I need to brake.

Found these on the horse brand blog. Nice to see someone with their hoods/bar set with the tops level, not kicked back at an absurd angle.

Salsa Cowchipper with fancier stickers . . . but WOW, how much more expensive!

Do those bar plugs come out? Might be a consideration if you ever want to use Di2.

These are Di2 ready handlebars.

Especially now that Cowbell, Cowchipper, and Woodchipper each come in 3 flavors (6061T, 7050-T6, and carbon)

I still don't get the flared handlebar thing in general.

If you only ride smooth gravel roads, you would be fine with regular drop bars. Flared bars give you a wider bar in the drops for better control in rough terrain. The angle of the flare allows your elbows to be in a better position to absorb impacts from roots, rocks, etc. The angled levers also put your wrists in a more comfortable position when riding on the hoods.

I regularly ride MTB trails on my gravel bike and the flared bars prevent the wrist pain that I used to get with regular road drop bars.

Ah ok, so they're for mtb'ing on a gravel bike. Yeah I don't do that which is why I don't need bars like that.

In my experience, at about 140 miles in a gravel race -- with conventional bars -- my hands begin to go very numb. With flared bars (Cowchippers), the problem never arises. Flared bars are less aero, but more ergonomic. It's all about the ergos.

Why the hell would you mount the G Enve bars to 105 levers. Come on dude :notamused:.

Yes, I have them on my Ibis Hakka... and I absolutely LOVE them. I sometimes wish I could put them on my road bikes too :)

I have SRAM Force 1 on the bike and the levers feel perfectly normal....

I just started thinking about these again, today, coincidently.

(This was because I went into a sizable rut.)

After several shoulder dislocations (wrestling ) my right should has a screw in it to prevent it from rotating. I can't make my shoulder rotate enough to make my elbows go parallel while riding on the top hats or drop bars ( same reason I can't do forearm plank ). I would love handles bars shaped like this. Do them make them cheaper out of Aluminum ?

I just got those a few weeks ago for a touring bike. I think they hit the sweet spot. I looked for a carbon version for another bike, but couldn't find them.

If you compare the profile of the bars you can see there are significant differences - the tops are Ergo on the Enve as are the bends toward the hoods. The Enve has a smaller radius down portion to help absorb vibration (their comments not my observation) and has Di2 wire routing. The Salsa on the other hand has a 140mm clampable area for aerobars, lights and bags etc where the Enve is just under 120. The Enve is about 50grams heavier.

Another Carbon Gravel specific bar which is profiled that is similar is the Pro Discover Gravel Carbon Handlebar. Di2 routing, similar flare but it is designed to keep the levers more vertical, ergo tops, lighter than Cowchipper Carbon, has back sweep also (neither Enve or Cow Chipper has this) and similar flare to the Enve and Cow Chipper. Shimano reps told me it has 150mm of clampable area (which I have a hard time visualizing with the back sweep and profile) and it's also designed to work perfectly with the GRX groupset including the sublevers.

For me, there are advantages of all 3 of these but would choose the Discover over Enve due to the wider clamping and the back sweep if money wasn't a consideration, and the Salsa cow chipper carbon would be last due to no back sweep or profiled top. I run Di2 but the interior routing isn't that important to me so wouldn't be a deal breaker or maker. Any of these can be found on sale at 20% off if you shop around. I'm acutally considering getting the Discover bars though. I have Ritchey Evo Max on my gravel bike now and they feel great, but would like something with more flare for more technical gravel like DK.

I really like those bars, might look into getting a set for my Felt VR30
