they were just heavy duty backpacking boots. I had some la sportiva makalu's for crampons back in the day. I may end up wtih some plastic boots over the next couple of years for north country adventures.

My inversion table gives me a headache and makes me nauseous so far, but it does seem to help my back a bit, or at lease enough to be a decent placebo.

Hikers, I have some Garmont Dakotas that are fairly lightly used. Size 11. They're about 6 years old but a size too small so I haven't warn them much at all. I'd part with them for shipping costs.

^ wish Id have known that a few months ago...Im size 11. But I had a hard time finding boots that worked for my stupid duck feet.

With a lot to carry or in really rough terrain I like a boot with a stiff sole. For day hiking when the footing isn't too extreme I like a very light shoe that is barely a boot. You have to have more than one pair of foot ware, just like you need more than one pair of wheels.

I use a pair of Meindl Island Pro boots for hiking. I'm not the most co-ordianted and require a nice sturdy boot I can just place anywhere. I need to get some lighter boots/shoes for some of the well maintained tracks or day trips.

so the gerbil powering the database was getting tired.

I think it's time I actually got some clipless road-bike shoes and pedals.
What's a good, reasonably priced pedal and shoe. I have short, wide feet; wear orthotics to correct my knee mis-tracking and roll my feet outwards and am prone to hot/numb feet.

I suck at racing anyway so I don't need to handicap myself further by using toe clips and straps. I'm using an old (NOS) pair of cyclecross shoes with slotted cleats that work for me. Or should I forgo new shoes and just actually do some training before races?

I wouldn't talk RAAM here much but it is a dude I've ridden with. Funny, he was never really fast and he used to be kind of dickish, but he has mellowed and has more of a sense of humor after doing the thing 3 times and finishing twice.
He does love an egg mcmuffin on the bike.

not a bad idea. but I don't know if I'd like to race in them. should have mentioned it's for my "race" bike. my other bikes have either platform pedals or MTB pedals.
