My first new bike purchase, age 33. :love: Only rode a handmedown family single speed clunker before. And a couple of loaners from friends encouraging me to join a ride after divorce. :hug: More fun than baseball games and a complement to winter skiing. ;) Besides my knees were hurting from all the jogging (remember that word?) :mad: 1. Relaaaxed friendly bike shop in (Willow Glen) neighborhood outside 'hoidy' Los Gatos&Saratoga CA. 2. Triple for Santa Cruz Mts in my back yard. 3. It fit and looked well made. Straddled the top tube barefoot with room to raise front wheel a couple of inches. 4. A fair test ride distance allowed by shop after saddle height adjustment and loaner gloves. (Driver lic deposit) 5. Reduced price to $299. Only 1 service at 30days. (may have been Spring of '85). After the sale the owner thanked me, was afraid the 59cm tourer in root beer brown wasn't going to sell. Even let me keep the lightly used riding gloves. :D It lives today - well cared for by a third owner, and Forum member on the Kitsap (I think) or Olympic Peninsula. |
