First post, and I only recently started to cycle as an injury recovery sport.
Purchased a 2015 Sirrus Elite back in April as it fits my riding needs and my budget.
Quite happy with it so far, and since I'll be keeping that one for the long haul, I already did some upgrades. I upgraded the aluminum seat post to a carbon Sworks pave and the steel pedals to Magnesium with titanium spindles (got those at a bargain). I also shortened the handlebar from 600mm to 580mm and installed end bar extensions. Next I'll probably go for carbon stem and handlebar. Here are a few pictures (sorry Iphone quality):

I have posted pictures of my Sirrus touring bike before. Since this is a new Sirrus-dedicated thread, I thought I would repost a picture. If anyone is interested in seeing other shots including, ones of the bikes' evolution and story, check out this earlier thread -

Thinking of picking up these wheels for my '15 do you think they will fit? It looks like I need a 15mm to 9mm QR adapter, but the rear should fit fine. Also I have a 9 speed so I think I need a spacer?? Any help or confirmation from someone smarter than me is always appreciated!

The weight is decent and price is good.

forresterace - That's quite the setup you have there!

Thanks. It's taken a slow evolution over about six years. I didn't change anything in the past year, so maybe I have it exactly where I want it.

anybody know what the widest tire that can be put on a 2015 or 2016 carbon framed Sirrus? How about the aluminum framed models? Is it different for one versus the other?

Hello,
Sirrus is now 13 months old, getting on a bit now but still puts a big smile on my face - It's had a few face lifts since collection, many seem common to other sirrus owners, but one change doesn't seem to be mentioned much - at all.

It would have been cheaper to buy just the frame - the original components still fitted are, frame, front mech, shifters, bottom bracket, headset, gear cables.

Nearly bought a 2016 Roubaix comp disc last week, but after sitting on it, it felt the same as the sirrus but the shifter/brake levers felt alien.

Had an amazing 45 mile ride this morning and 20 - 25mph + seen regularly, except a 25% gradient (in places) 800 ft climb. A drop bar Roubaix wouldn't have made much difference as I'm nearly 48 and don't intend putting excessive strain on my neck.

Recently I changed handlebars to 25.4mm and fitted shims to save buying a new stem, this enabled moving the controls towards the stem and narrowing the bars.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=476984

I also jiggled the spacers on the fork stem to lower the bars a few mm (15mm).

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=477013

Recently changed the bar ends, despite the cost it's taken a while to get used to them. After 5 weeks they have grown on me and do offer some really nice riding positions, allowing extended reach - comparable to that of a Roubaix.

Last investment, some weeks ago, were XTR brakes. The stock brakes were ok but the levers rattled over the slightest bump, which was annoying. The XTRs brake better, but an expensive upgrade - worth it?? Of course.

Upgrading the wheels and tyres was great, carbon cranks, etc, etc. The biggest noticeable change has been to 25.4mm bars, narrowing them and altering the stem.

The bike was fantastic the first time ridden, 13 months later it's something else and performs way beyond expectations.

I think my brakes are finally broken in. This is my first disc bike. I celebrated that with a 40mph downhill going into a sharp right turn. Hoo boy these brakes work nice compared to what I've had in the past!

Hello all

Is this damage acceptable for a new 2016 Expert Carbon Sirrus? LBS quoted that damage was caused by Specialized tightening the mounting bolts to the frame causing the paint to peel back. Photos of the front disc brakes. I also included a photo of the front fork that shows damage maybe due to dropping bike which could be also related to the brake mount damage.

Grey. 09-13-15 04:02 PM

That would be going back to the dealer if it were my bike. If my 600$ bike dosen't have any finish flaws, a 2000$ bike certainly should not.

And frankly i'd be questioning wether Specialized was actaully responsible for this, or someone at your LBS.

n0thing 09-13-15 04:33 PM

Agreed with Greg. I wouldn't consider that to be acceptable.

Still love the colors on the comp carbon frames 14-15' :)

That is a carbon fork. That is more than cosmitic damage. The mount is compromised.I would be worried the brake would eventually come off in use....... like on a downhill that you would really need them on. Bike would go back if it were me.

Thanks all. I am waiting for a reply back from them tomorrow but I will be returning the bike. I am worried about the carbon and I was expecting a flawless finish for a 2016 model and one of the top models. Good point about the brake coming of the mount. Will let you know the outcome.

The LBS have offered to respray the damage sections and state that the warranty is still valid and they also offered me a helmet to a value of $100. There are also a couple of other options that they would like to discuss when I bring in the bike. They will also show me the response from Speacilized regarding the warranty. They commented that this is a common occurrence due to transportation from overseas.

Is it purely cosmetic? I don't know that I would be okay with cracking paint on a $1500+ bike. Common occurrence or not. Then again, cosmetic isn't going to hurt anything.

How do you determine if it is cosmetic or not by looking at it? What I am concern with is the potential damage caused by the impact which is difficult to detect. And what amount of impact force would have been applied to have cause this to occur. I guess this is a negative of owning a full carbon bike.

First post here in honor of my new bike: 2016 Specialized Sirrus Comp Carbon. Just picked it up this evening so I don't have any pictures yet (hope to post tomorrow) but I did weigh the entire bike (23 lbs for XL frame) and the Axis 1.0 front wheel/tire/rotor (3.8 lbs).

The LBS that I got it from will be fitting the plug and play fenders to it next week as part of the purchase. Apparently, they are only 'plug and play' once they are cut and drilled properly--according the LBS, that can be dicey.

In shopping for this bike, I looked at and rode the Cannondale Quick Speed, Cannondale Quick Carbon, Diamondback Interval Carbon, Fuji Absolute 1.0, Novarra Strada 3, Specialized Sirrus Comp Disc and Specialized Sirrus Carbon Elite Disc. I would have ridden the Giant Fastroad Comax as well but no one has those in stock anywhere. If you have any questions on those bikes or my impressions, ask away. I am coming from a 2007 Trek 7.3FX and the difference is striking.

Now with a picture

Since this is THE Sirrus thread I am going to post questions here. I purchased a 2006/2007 Sirrus XS frame size for my daughter.

The saddle is a tad high. The frame size is fine but if I can lower the saddle it would be awesome! The seatpost is the lowest that it can go. The seatpost size is 300mm. Thinking about getting a 250mm length seatpost. Will this impact the saddle in any way? Mind you my daughter is going to use the bike sparingly. Although, i am hoping it gets more use.

n0thing 09-20-15 09:25 PM

Weighed my bike yesterday. 24.2-25.2 pounds depending on how I weighed it (holding or standing it up). Stock outside of two Elite bottle cages and a Selle TRK Man saddle. Sirrus Comp Disc.

IMHO, they are blowing BS. You bought perfect, therefore they need to come up with perfect. We bought a complete high quality leather living room set a year or so ago. Two of three peices were damaged. One only very slightly. Refused the 'deal' on both peices and insiste on PERFECT replacements. They didn't like it a damn bit, but they replaced both. Bike is no different.
