Which bike of the two?

So I've been considering a mtn bike all winter and have finally gotten it down to one or the other. Here they are? I know which is the better bike, but given my age and my unambitious riding plans, one is considearbly cheaper than the other. I'm 72, will be riding on hiking trails/biking trails, no racing or fast downhills, nothing technical. I just want to get off the road and away from cars for a while.

Kona Honzo $1499. Through axles, air compression shox fork, dropper seatpost, SX drivetrain, 32lbs

Ghost Kato 5.9, $1099 at REI, so I'' get a 10%dividend back plus another 5% on my REI card, so total around $950. Quick Release, coil spring fork, no dropper seatpost, SX drivetrain, 30.4 lbs.

What do you think?

I think I'd get something different at REI, a last-year Salsa or Cannondale if they have any left or wait and see if they are going to carry the new Salsa Rangefinder which is similar priced

I rode a Honzo at a Kona demo last year. I was impressed and enjoyed riding it a lot better than that the Process 153. For the money, they are a great ride. I'd recommend it. Darth has good advice also.

Both are good bikes and priced accordingly. Ghost doesn't advertise like the others but makes decent choices. I have a friend who is 75 and started riding a fatbike at 70. Last year he got a Trek ebike and loves it. He motors up climbs at our speed so doesn't get dropped. They aren't cheap but something to consider.

If you're looking at REI, check out the Co-Op line. Good quality, reasonably priced and spec'ed like the bikes you're looking at. I'm not familiar with the two bikes mentioned but most importantly, ride them and see what feels best.

See post #5 above. Congratulations on the Kona!
