Official Fuji Absolute owners thread

I've seen a bunch of official owners threads, but didn't see one for Fuji Absolutes. I am 62 years old just getting back into biking after about 20 years, just ordered a 2019 Fuji Absolute 1.1, $1,200, and a friend of mine is picking up a left over 2018 Fuji Absolute 1.1 for $825, which seems to be a pretty good deal. I used to ride a mountain bike, moving to this hybrid should be a lot of fun as these days riding mostly paved or occasional hard packed gravel paths. I will post pictures once it comes in. Interested in hearing what extras others have added to their Fujis, cages, racks, fenders, or nothing at all!

Just got a 2.1 and really like it. Looking to put a mirror on it -- my local bike shop had a mirror, but they guy had trouble installing it and gave up (it sticks out of the handlebar). Anyone know of a mirror that will fit this bike?

I was just looking to buy the same bike, but my LBS didn't have one and couldn't say when one could come in. He said they are all still on a boat overseas and they were not sure when they would be released. I ended up ordering a Felt Verza Speed 10 and should take delivery later this week.

It's about freakin' time! My 2013 Absolute 2.1. Shimano Altus FD, Alivo RD. 2100 miles on the original Vera Citywide 700x32 tires. No reason at all to upgrade. Perfect for me at 52 yrs old and riding to stay fit and active. Fast and smooth.

I added new pedals and cages when the original pedals failed, replaced the grips with Ergon GP2 grips and bar ends, added illumination since many of my rides start in the pre-dawn hours, and added a Transit saddle bag and an Avenir handlebar bag. I also added a cheap wired computer..

Let's see pics of yours! As you said, they're somewhat few and far between around here.

Well, update on the Absolute 1.1? Pics?

I finally ended getting a bike, I had ordered a 2019 Fuji Absolute 1.1 from my LBS. They keep telling me that the delivery kept getting delayed. Finally Fuji America said no 2019 Fuji Absolute 1.1 Model this year. Said there will be a 2020 Fuji Absolute 1.1 available spring 2020. So, I ended up buying a leftover 2018 Fuji Absolute 1.1, for $825, really like it a lot. Been fixing it up, pedals, water bottle cages, bell ringer, need a seat, got some good pictures, I need a few more posts to attach images.

Congrats on the new bike! I really like the satin stone silver color, and $825 is a good price for that bike.
I recently purchased a leftover 2018 Fuji myself to replace an Absolute 1.5 I'd had for four years. I know they've gone through some corporate trouble over the past few years, but Fuji makes really good bikes in my opinion.

camjr - Nice Bike! I like that blue, that first picture is awesome, and looks like you got your bike outfitted good!

AU Tiger - Yeah I remember years ago, a co-worker rode a Fuji road bike to work everyday, and I thought it was a good looking solid bike. Really happy with the 2018 Absolute 1.1, I just purchased. Might even buy a 2020 model next year, supposed to come in a nice bright silver, though the satin stone silver is a good color too. And moving forward hope they got the higher up corporate stuff all sorted out.

Nice. I saw that one at Performance Bikes before they shuttered their brick and mortar stores. You got a nice deal on it.

I had to take a look and see what a Felt Verza looked like, not sure how that one got by me, looks nice, I like that silver, and specs seem similar to the Fuji Absolute 1.1, good choice.

=>"still on a boat overseas and they were not sure when they would be released"<= after Fuji America told me that they would be going straight to 2020 models next spring (at least for the Absolute 1.1), I'm thinking that boat sunk!

Updated picture, so far, Specialized platform pedals, Planetbike water bottle cages, Camelback water bottles, WTB ProGel Bike Seat, Bicycle Plastic Twist Bell, and, Specialized Wedge Seat Pack. Think I am good, maybe will add some bar ends. Went on 6 mile ride SAT on the W&OD Bike Trail in northern VA.

I love my 2011 Fuji Absolute 3.0, but I need a new rear wheel at this point. I'm riding my backup bike, a 1997 Trek 830, until I get it figured out.

A good friend is shopping for a new, lighter, and more up-to-date hybrid. He asked me about Fuji (has a dealer in his area that handles Fuji), and specifically the Absolute 1.3. I don't know a lot about Fuji, but when I looked up the specs online, I was surprised at the value it offers, when compared to similarly spec'd bikes from the more popular brands. Gotta admit--when I did comparisons, it had me wondering why we don't hear more about Fuji. Maybe just not as many dealerships which handle Fuji?

My understanding is that fuji went through some financial turmoil and that during the seventies and eighties they were made in Japan and had a good reputation, now made in China. For a while there were some manufacturing defects but as far as I can tell Fuji bikes are pretty nice, I have a 2018 absolute 1.7 which I really enjoy. Some of the components can stand an upgrade, but overall it was a great deal. I do know that fuji will continue on under new ownership...I think.

I started off on a Fuji Absolute 1.5 five years ago and loved it. Transitioned to a Fuji Jari 1.5 last year and love it even more. If the fit is right, I would definitely recommend the Fuji brand.

Proud owner of a Fuji Absolute 1! 2015 Model. Got a really good deal for it. I truly think Fuji Bikes are seriously underrated.

I picked up a 2019 Absolute 1.1 and LOVE it!!! Changed the stem and handlebars so I can sit more upright and have a wider grip. I'm a big guy that easily gets back pain so this mod helps tremendously. I also added a rack and a mirror to my handlebars as I use it to commute. I was hesitant on spending that amount of money but no regrets. I would post a photo but I'm new to this forum and currently unable to.

That 2015 looks good.

We had one bike ride first weekend in March, on the W&OD Ashburn to Sterling and back, but have been home bound since.

Upgraded the tires on my 2018 Fuji Absolute 1.1 from 32mm to 38mm, (Kenda Street Nimbus K830 Road Tire) would of thought it was a bigger change (width) than it was, but pretty happy so far.

Looking forward to hitting the trails all around Northern VA (W&OD, C&O, Mount Vernon, etc.), come on out if in the area, "The Pokey Pedalers" ride every other SAT, once things open up.

camjr 05-05-20 06:03 AM

My 2013 Absolute 2.1 as it currently sits after thousands of miles. Yes, it's dirty but I washed it a few days ago.

I've been riding my vintage Motobecane Grand Touring a lot more lately, but I love this bike.

This is my second year of riding the "Green Hornet", we got a group of riders, (The Pokey Pedalers) 4 to 6 of us and we ride every other SAT around Washington DC, C&O Canal, W&OD Trail, MT Vernon Trail, two weeks ago SAT, we rode from Whites Ferry on the C&O Canal to Point of Rocks MD and back, had lunch at the Whites Ferry Grill (excellent place), was an excellent day.
