Looking to identify a Peugeot
Helllo! I recently purchased a single speed/fixie that has been converted from a road bike. I want to identify the year and model of the frame and am hoping you folks could help me out. All I know is it's a Peugeot and is likely from the '70s. Have a look!

Peugeot UO 8. Beautiful color.

No chrome socks -- it's an AO-8?
Are those holes drilled on the underside of the downtube? |

appears it may have begun life as model PL8 here is a domestic french market catalogue page from 1972 illustrating one iteration - https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...97a8d40123.jpg ----- |
That's a cool looking bike.

It has that generator bracket on the rear stay, rear rack braze-ons and the undertube guides for the headlight wire, but not canti bosses so it appears not to match any frame in that brochure photo. We have to keep looking.

Simple. The PX50 is the only one with the rear rack braze-ons and it is the only one with the downtube-mounted pump pegs but it has canti bosses, which the PO's frame does not have. The PX8 has no rack braze-ons and the pump pegs are on the underside of the top tube. The PL8 that seems to be everyone's favorite has no rack braze-ons and the pump pegs are on the underside of the top tube. Ergo, no match. |

Thank you for your patient explanation. ;) ----- |
In the U.S. that would be an AE8, in Europe it could be a PL8
P=Peugeot L=Lux (fenders generator etc) 8= sport series |
