Birmingham seatpost
I know all about my vintage Falcon Super Route, yet I know nothing of the seat post, which is merely marked "Birmingham".
Nothing special here, I'm sure it was used on many low-to-mid level UK bikes in the 70's. But I for the life of me cannot find anything on the interwebs about the manufacturer! Was it by any chance part of the Birmingham Small Arms Company? |
Could be the same company that made "Birmalux" tubular rims in the 70's....
|
My bike is not here now, it's in the shop, but I bet it is Birmalux (according to Google images), and I just haven't read the faded engraving carefully enough.
Thanks, Chombi! edit: It must be Birmalux, and evidently I've inquired about them before! My memory is shot. https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...-birmalux.html |
Birmingham was possibly the largest centre of cycle production in the world for a time after the war, even if Raleigh was the largest marque. Many companies could have made it.

It's an aluminum post? Birmalux send likely. Strata is also possible, depending on the date.
