Ride #31 . 26.40 miles. 2:13:44. Avg speed 11.8 mph

Horrible ride. Gusty winds 30 mph or more. Hot and muggy. Tired .. should of been a rest day.

31 rides in passed the 1000 mile mark at 1004.77 miles .... makes up for an otherwise miserable day on the bike.

Hondo Gravel 04-29-20 03:27 PM

Ride #32 29.57 miles 2:26:22. Avg speed 12.1 mph

30 mph north winds made the climb a challenge but going downhill was fun. Just a typical training ride. More serious cyclists I’m seeing out in the boonies. I figured these back roads will get discovered sooner or later. Now I need an ice cold beer.

Hondo Gravel 04-30-20 03:19 PM

Ride #33 3:01:08. 37.45 miles. Avg speed 12.4 mph

Weather is getting hot which zaps the energy. Going to start riding early or late with bike lights to beat the heat.
SOS roads... I shouldn’t complain since I can leave from my garage.

Ride #34 26.48 miles. 1:59:22 Avg speed 13.3 mph

Took two days off to recharge. Light wind and warm in the mid 90s. Overall a good ride.

Ride #35 . 31.68 miles. 2:35:01 Avg speed 12.2 mph

Strong north wind made for a challenging climb but the downhill was fast. Just another day on the bike.

Corn plural.

Hondo Gravel 05-07-20 05:32 PM

Ride #36 . 36.33 miles 3:24:16. Avg speed 10.6 mph

Gravel bike at the LBS for a broken shifter cable. So I’m on the single speed rigid mountain bike and I had a blast. Hot and humid around 90 degrees strong south wind but I didn’t care. It was good to ride a different bike to change things up.

Put on the gas tank for extra storage and worked great. Don’t get you’re tires sideways in a Texas gate you will be hurtin for certin lol

1840s era house built by the original German settlers. Pretty cool...

Ride #37 . 22.60 miles. 2:08:46. Avg speed 10.5 mph

Hangover ride on the SS MTB. The simplicity of having one gear makes the ride relaxing. Too many pints last night

Pit stop and the turnaround point for the ride today.

Hondo Gravel 05-10-20 02:38 PM

Ride #38 . 29.47 miles 2:42:44. Avg speed 10.8 mph

Still cruising the single speed. Next I might take the geared MTB for a spin. Gravel Bike is at the bike hospital waiting to get repaired. The 29 2.1 tires are sweet on gravel.

Cool low humidity in the mid 80s

Hondo Gravel 05-11-20 03:37 PM

Rest day today. The no. 1 mouser says no ride no working with tools. I ain’t arguing

Good luck!

Ride #39 . 30.01 miles 2:44:02. Avg speed 10.9 mph

Cruising the SS on a basic ride. Warm and humid but not hot. Good ride today.

Cactus everywhere.

Texas has cactus.

I got a dose of crop duster spray lol.

Moving too fast to get a close shot.

Ride #40 37.30 miles 3:28:28. Avg speed 10.7 mph

Today I wish I had more than one gear. I bought I decent bike work stand so next time I will do my own cable repairs. I know the LBS is very busy so I understand the wait. No problem.

Texas shoots all the road signs. Perfectly normal.

45 bullet holes

This clock has been on this oak tree since I moved here and started riding this road.

Ride #41 26.70 miles 2:25:07. Avg speed 11.0 mph

Still cruising the SS but I don’t care the SS is a fun bike. Texas has corn and electric fences,

Ride #42 . 30.53 miles. 2:25:51. Avg speed 12.5 mph

Tuned up the cyclocross scraped together some wheels. I miss this bike the most comfortable bike I have. The Marathon touring tires are slow but bombproof. 10 speed so much less complicated and expensive. The cantilever brakes work good enough for me.

Hondo Gravel 05-18-20 07:13 PM

Ride #43 . 29.58 miles. 2:23:13. Avg speed 12.3 mph

Another run on the cyclocross seen above. Hot muggy ride the heat is here.

Lemond1985 05-18-20 07:15 PM

Yes, but no matter hot and muggy as it gets, ice cold beer stays exact the same temperature.

Hondo Gravel 05-21-20 01:06 PM

Ride #44 . 28.08 miles 2:17:56. Avg speed ?

Ride #45 . 26.33 miles 2:02:43. Avg speed 12.8 mph

Getting hot and muggy. Summer is here nothing but routine rides and routes, getting bored. If this pandemic BS ever settles down I want to ride The Katy in Missouri or the GAP in Pennsylvania. Summer 2020 looks shot. All concerts and events are moving to 2021 and if college football gets canceled I think I will move to the planet Mars.

"Guards, seize him!" :D

You got a trip west planned this year? I'm pretty sure it's not hot and muggy in Portland right now. When I lived up there, I recall May was always the greenest month. The green up there was just unbelievable. But it can get very hot up there too, especially when you have such long days this time of year.

Hot, muggy, windy and hilly. Just had enough water barely.

Cold Big Red. Full of sugar and caffeine.

Thinking about restoring this 2004 Cannondale with a modern drivetrain. But the $, maybe in the future.

Hondo Gravel 05-25-20 06:25 PM

The mouser perfecting her craft.

The legs on that mouse are big ... like Texas. Are you sure that's not some kinda fancy-assed kangaroo rat?

Field Mouse. Clean as for as mice go a great food for the cat.

Lemond1985 05-25-20 06:47 PM

Hope you can get that Cannondale on the road soon, that's a really nice-looking frame. :thumb:

That bike can fly. Hopefully soon I will just say the heck with it, order a Shimano group set 105 or Ultegra and use it on some nice smooth and fast roads. Back on the SS to change things up. Iím riding every other day while it is hot and humid. Recovering isnít what is was back in my 20s and 30s. Most of my counterparts have zero endurance but Iím the only one that really works out. Just average in the in shape crowd for my age. The one speed is a fun bike and itís brings back youth during the time we all had one speeds. 1970s

Simple like bicycles should be. But yes I love my 11 speed rides too.
