Bike swap meet

Saw a posting in NW Ohio for a vintage swap meet. Looks like same group, but different location. Hope it os okay to link it here. Saturday warning; most vendors are packing and leaving, so Thursday and Friday best. Nice time to get back to more normalcy.

That is the former Memory Lane swap that used to be in Grand Rapids, Ohio. After the owner of Memory Lane Bike Shop passed away the property and contents were sold off. The new owners allowed the swap to continue for a couple years, but they have been trying to find a new permanent site.

Good looking out OP. If anyone knows; what are the chances of running up on 1980s-1990s road bikes, frames & components?

I have been to this show several times but only a couple as a more knowledgeable accumulator. A very eclectic mix of stuff. Last time I saw a few 80s bikes. Lots of parts around, but wasn’t yet much into the wrenching on newer stuff, so can’t attest to parts for 80s or 90s stuff. For sure lots of old balloon tire and Schwinn stuff. Lots of Schwinn lightweights. Saw a very inexpensive SuperSport a year ago. Bought the wife a nice Breeze too. I remember a Raleigh International for over $1K.

It seemed to be lots of vendors that know each other and make the rounds to different shows. Indeed, it seemed like they must be selling to each other as the action ends early on Saturday when the general working public can get there. Fun times for an old guy though with all the other stuff to see too. Perhaps a more seasoned forum member has more insight. My recollection was maybe 20 bikes of 1980s or 90s.

I meant to include that in my other post. The main focus is on 1950s tank bikes and Krate/muscle bikes, but there are usually some sellers with newer road bikes and/or parts. I bought this Trek 400T at the fall meet 2 years ago.

1988 Trek 400T, as found.

I may well see you there ;)

I believe I saw that nice Trek there, and for a nice price too. Nice score.

Those old rollers are pretty cool. I've never seen something like that before. I assumed that type of training equipment was a lot newer.

Been awhile, but the ML swap was mostly classics, balloon tire and cruiser bikes. Not much in the way of modern road stuff. There might be some there, but that's not what the swap is built around.

I have to work on Thursday and Friday, so I doubt if I can get out early enough to run over in the afternoon. Saturday might be a bust, since it's only a half day and people will be packing to leave. Maybe I could catch a few deals so they don't have to haul them back home if I get there at the crack of dawn.

It’s hard to believe that this will happen given that we’re still in a global pandemic.

They normally don't attract a huge crowd and it's all outdoors, so social distancing should not be an issue. Ohio has been allowing garage sales and flea markets all summer with guidelines from the health department.
