Marco Island, Florida

I need help.
I am staying in Marco Island, Florida this February / March and would like to know about road cycling.
I ride 40 - 80 miles per day. Like quite paved roads if possible.
I always bring my bike with me.
Like to ride from where I am staying.
I cannot find much about the Marco Island area,
Can anyone give me answers on riding in this area?
Thanks

I'm new to cycling and have never cycled in/on Marco, but I have spent tons of time there at my inlaws place. First, I'll say that cycling on Marco Island can be a little crazy depending on the time of year. When you'll be there season will be in full swing and it'll be very crowded. Being a small island, I would think the best thing to do would be to get off the island, there are only 2 ways to do this - to the North via Collier or to the East via San Marco. I'd recommend making your way off via San Marco as the roads going out that way will be far less traveled and much safer. San Marco will take you all the way out to 41 (Tamiami Trail) which will be a pleasant ride and again, not to busy compared to the northerly route heading up towards Naples.

Biking on the island, your biggest concern will be the elderly population of drivers with degraded driving skills and sight (not meant to offend anyone!). Also, on the island you'll find yourself having to stop at intersections, lights and crosswalks a lot. Again, IMO, getting off the island is the best bet.
