Any experience with Speedplay Syzrs?

I'm using old and orphaned pedals (Bebops) and need to figure out what to replace them with, as they're wearing out. I like the idea of the Syzrs, as they're walkable and have more float than conventional SPDs (which I think I need).

Does anyone have any feedback on them? Is there a better option I'm overlooking?

I thought about it, because I used Speedplay X pedals for a long time. I ended up with SPD. I am not convinced that float is all that important once you get your cleats set to whatever weird angle your knees like to be at.

Yeah, there's the thing: I'm riding SPDs on my commuter bike, and I guess I have an extreme toes-out position because I cannot install the cleats on my shoes so that the float range feels right. It's OK for my commuting distance, but for longer distances, I don't think it'll work.

I know what you are talking about, SPD's sometimes limit my right leg, which seems to want to be at different angles on different days. Moving my knee outward fixes it. I mostly notice this climbing.

Yeah, Bebop pedals... I still stick to them as well but my spares (cleats, but also pedals) are vanishing. Don’t know either what I will replace them yet, their orphanage is really a pity!

I don’t get along that well with the wiggly small platform of SPD, so that I probably will try SPD SL next and accept the loss in walkability.

Wahoo bought Speedplay, and the word is that they are discontinuing most of the products, including the Syzr. Since there are less than 10 users of Syzr pedals in the entire world, I think that makes sense.

I'm sold. I'll be able to continue my streak of buying orphaned pedal systems! I had Aerolites before Bebops.

you might be able to get a lifetime supply on clearance. If the cleat prices are anything like the X series, that would still be ridiculously expensive. Although I think you can get clone cleats for x series for cheap. Which only makes sense for a bent piece of wire and some plastic

on edit: I see the clone cleats are all for Zero pedals. It looks like the Zero cleats do work on X series pedals, but not the other way around
