'As a Mountain Biking Motivator, Add a Little Electronic Assist'
'E-mountain bikes may enable newcomers to gain fitness on daunting hills or snowy trails.' I do it for the exertion. |

Pedaling an electric mountain bike is a workout, not an effortless romp, requiring almost as much physical exertion as riding a standard mountain bike.
Um no. |
Fortunately, push-back is coming, as was inevitable.
My main hope is that the push-back against electric dirt bikes (a.k.a. e-mtbs) being permitted on trails restricted to non-motorized vehicles will not sweep up real mountainbikes (human powered) in the process. https://www.bikemag.com/news/equestr...-e-mtb-access/ |

Um no. If that statement were true, there'd be no use for an electric mountain bike. |
There is a use for an electric mountain bike?
Who knew?! |
I've already seen one-on a trail I was riding. He had a much easier time going back up the other side of a stream crossing. Just glad, at 68, that I was able to ride up, and ride the rest of the trail, without the assist of a motor, tho not as fast as he rode it.

I love my eMTB. It's not an effortless romp. But definitely not "almost as much exertion as a standard mountain bike".
