Tire - Wheel Size Question
 

Hello,

I am looking at changing my bike tires to tubeless. I currently have wheels with 622x20 and tubular tires at 700x26c (26-622). I have confirmed that the wheels are tubeless ready. I am planning on getting the Continental GP5000 TL 25-622 (700x25c). Now I am a bit confused if it will actually fit. The wheel size of 622x20 seems a bit odd.

Would appreciate any info on this.

The rim width number is likely the internal width — 20mm — of the rim, which is a bit wider than standard road rims (at least historically speaking). 25mm tires would be a good fit and probably will blow up a bit wider than 25mm on those rims. 25mm tubeless Scwalbe tires blow up to about 28mm on my 21mm rims, for example.

Am I the only one wondering how he's going to mount tubeless tires on tubular rims??

Me too. If you have tubular tires you need new wheels to convert to tubeless clinchers

Since the OP made more than one reference to 622 including the wheel, I doubt he actually has tubular tires and just meant to say he has regular tires with tubes.

It doesn't. It refers to a bead seat diameter. Tubular tires have no bead.

700c, 28in, and 622mm are all the same size. Yes, it's stupidly confusing. (Not to mention that 27' tires are bigger than 28' tires.)

OP - unless you're gluing the tires to the rim you don't have tubular tires. Your rim is a 700C rim and says it is tubeless compatible.... then put (700c, 622) tubeless tires on it if you want and then ride them. Stop worrying about the widths. Your rim is a road rim. Put road tubeless on them.
