Chain ring wear

Is this chain ring worn out? Right now I am still having issue getting into the big chain ring when switching gears and was wondering if this is my issue.

Looks like it has plenty of life left, to me. FD adjustment is probably to blame, maybe a dirty chain. :)

Ring wear isn't the usual shifting issue but chain wear can be. BTW that small ring is getting well worn. At some point the tooth erosion will be enough to cause the chain to slip over the teeth under power. Andy

Shifting issue sounds more like an adjustment issue of the front DR than a sprocket issue.

What do the shift pins on the backside of the ring look like?
I have had to replace a chainring with perfectly fine teeth, just because the shift pins got rounded off by wear, and could no longer catch the chain to lift it up onto the ring.

You might also check to make sure your FD mount hasn't moved on the frame. I accidentally hit mine with my heel one time while bouncing along on a trail and it turned it so slightly that you almost couldn't see it with your naked eye, but it really messed with the shifting. And like Shimagnolo said, sometimes those little bumps on the side will wear from dirt and grit faster than the teeth and that definitely effects shifting up because they no longer pull the chain up the side of the sprocket. Good luck

This is an interesting thought. Here is a pic but not sure what a fresh one looks like. Mine appears to have a bulge but not a very big one.

I tried adjusting everything and it sort of works but not perfectly all the time. I'm sort of living with it for now.

So maybe a new outer chain ring might be the next thing to try. Will start looking around for one.
