Holdsworth Special F&F
Sorry for the crappy indoor pictures. I have been meaning to offer this frame for sale for the past several months, but had never got around to taking decent pictures. I will update this thread with better pictures if there is interest.
Holdsworth Special Frame & Fork. Serial number 052298. I had dated this to be late 1970s or early 1980s, but can no longer find the serial number database. I'm sure someone can correct me if I am wrong. Rear is 120 mm. Includes Tange Allez headset, drop out adjuster screws and seat binder bolt. Fixed bottom bracket cup will be removed. Frame is in good condition with blemishes due to age, but is straight and dent free. The worst mark on the down tube from the front brake chipping away the paint. Reynolds 531st Almost 23" CTT seat tube Tope Tube 22.5" CTC $195 plus shipping. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...053a246e12.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f8abd05d51.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...d12588804b.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...403c365677.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0952851f8b.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...36369e5e17.jpg Rear 120 mm Nicely thinned lugs |
Mmm, that's a nice one and my size. Any sense of the max tire size it would fit? I assume it was built for 700c wheels?
|
It had 700x28 wheels on it. I recall there being a good amount of space with the 28s. I'll put some wheels on it tomorrow and take some pictures.

Nice bike. According to David Scrimshaw's table, the serial number indicates 1983. I love my '81 Special.

Thank you. That's the table I was looking for.

That's a deal.

On my '82 Special with the dropout adjusters removed and the wheel all the way back in the dropouts, I was able to fit 33mm with knobs (Racing Ralph, if memory serves). Tight but doable. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9083c7832f.jpg Wish I could find a better pic. This is the bike & configuration when I rode Cino Heroica a few years back. |
I was also tempted, but I have enough projects at the moment. I was even thinking of going to visit my nephew in Cleveland so I would have an excuse to pick it up in person.:innocent:
