Driving I allow 1 hour, biking I allow 2, but electric?

taking highways the car takes a certain amount of time but the distance is far greater due to using highways. when biking I go a much more direct route, but it takes way longer. kinda dawned on me yesterday, with an electric bike going twice? as fast as me pedaling a reg. bike, I might be able to do the commute in the same amount of time as the longer drive in the car!

That would depend on how much "assist" the motor puts out... On my system , 350watts max, with a cut out at 32Km/Hr. I can pedal at 20Km/Hr average on level 1, and when I use the assist on my bike on level 4, it goes up to 30Km/Hr on average... Only a 50% gain in speed, but I am only 1/2 as tired, and only getting 1/2 the workout as the motor does the rest... :innocent:

EDIT; Oh, I forgot to mention,on level 1 assist, I can get 120 Kms on a charge but on level 4 assist, I only get about 40Kms...

Google map the route and half whatever they claim the time will be should be an easy result. I usually manage to finish a 20 mile ride in close to half the time and can't typically pace an electric bike.

it’s 22 miles google says 2 hrs 6 min I do it in 1 hr 45 min w a quick pit stop 1/2 way. Going home it takes 2 hrs flat

No, you won't go twice as fast, but it might make taking the bike every day worthwhile.

Well Commuting for over a year on my ebike. My commute 1 way is about 12 miles. I went from 90-100 mins to 45-55 mins depending on the level assist that I use. I switched to an ebike to eliminate the variation in time commuting.

I tend to use level 2-3/5 (500W Hub Drive) on my current bike. Level 2/4 (350W Mid Drive) on my old ebike. I use google maps, they calculate speed at around 10 mph. I've never used level 4 or 5 exclusively. I use Level 4-5 sometimes when I'm on the road trying to get home faster. The last two weeks, I haven't been commuting because I got an ingrown toenail removed and am trying to heal. I hope that this helps.
