1986 Raleigh Technium 460 w/Manual and Allen Wrench
 

Hello All,
I'm the original owner of a 1985 Raleigh Technium 460. I purchased on-sale in the spring of 1986. What makes this sale different is I have the original owner's manual, warranty registration card and allen wrench. I rode the bike lightly over the years. Mostly for the last 20 years I was following my daughters on their bikes around my subdivision.

I'm not well versed in bike specs. I measured the frame tube from the crank to the seat and got 21". The tires are 27". I've replaced the tires, brake pads, and handlebar tape. Paint is silver. Everything else is stock. Unfortunately, I cannot post pictures because I don't have enough posts yet. I can provide if necessary.

I would like to sell the entire package and not sell the manual / wrench separately. Need help on a price. I will post in the marketplace here. I live in the Plymouth, MI which is in the Metro Detroit area.

Raleigh USA did not introduce the Technium series until the 1986 model year. Your frame was built on the 64th day of 1986 in the Kent, Washington factory, so it's definitely a 1986 model. The 460 was the middle of the three Technium models offered that year and the MSRP was $290 US. The subject bicycle does appear to be the 21" version.

I would agree $150-200 price range nice bike but nothing special and there made by RBCA/Huffy which can hinder price Even the nicest Techiniums which are true top end vintage race bikes don't sell for more than $400-500, Nicer RBCA stuff are can be great deals for buyers but suck if you selling,

+2 Level nice top line can easily take a bike from a non seller fairly to a easy $200. Refer to some stock catalog and photos of from bike forums members for this' Ussualy there should be about a hand higt on the seat post and a half hand on the stem with the bottom of the drops and seat about level.

I had the exact same bike back in the 1990's, silver w/ purple. Mine was a 58, that appears to be a 56 or 54cm.

I put a ton of miles on mine. I thought it was a pretty good quality frame. Light and rigid.

Undervalued and underappreciated. You've got a gem there, sadly the market doesn't agree.

Nice bike, there's more value in keeping and riding it. The Metro Detroit market is super stale right now. You could slap a $100 price tag on it and it might sell, or it might sit for months. List it on Ann Arbor craigslist, there's usually more road bikes for sale there.

Thanks! I agree. I think someone else would enjoy it. I've been riding my Diverge since I got it, so the Technium is just sitting there.

Thank you everyone for your knowledge and help on this bike. I guess it isn't collectible, however, I thought I had something more than a $25 garage sale item. I will give it another ride again before I decide whether to post it. I just haven't been riding it since I got my Diverge a few years ago.

Pros: It's a wonderful lightweight bike that's a pure delight to ride. Cons: They must have made at least a million of these. (It's not collectable). (But, it's a damn fine ride). I would start at $300 on Craigslist and then start dropping the price by $25 each week until I got down to about $150. If it's in excellent shape I wouldn't take less than that.

Hi Everyone,
Just want to let you all know: I just sold my bike for $180. I told him he could probably resell it again and get his money back. But he said no he said he loved it and would keep it. Exactly the buyer I was looking for. It wasn't so much the price as I knew I had something worth riding and finding some one that would enjoy it - rather than just letting it sit there.
Thanks a bunch for your enthusiasm and support. Now I can dedicate my time to riding my Diverge!
