Ordered it last week since I'm tired of black bikes and that's all they had in stock, arrived today - '19 FX 3 in Viper Red. It's raining today, but supposed to clear up this evening so I can get in a ride :). First pic is at the store, second is home and accessorized.

Thanks :). Yup, had the TRK on my FX 2, immediately transferred it to me new bike since the 2 is getting handed down to my 15-year-old son, who will be fine on the stock saddle for a bit. I love my TRK, it stays with me!!

Let us know if you find the carbon fork absorbs the road imperfections better that the aluminum fork on your FX 2 did.

By the way, I almost bought that very bike in red ("cheaped" out over a couple of hundred bucks, lol). Love the look.

My guess is that with tires that size... you probably won't really notice a difference. It probably will mute some high frequency vibrations but I doubt there's any benefit in the "absorb road imperfections" department.

Just finished my first ride :). Really enjoying the bike. I've been riding a too small frame for several years due to advice from a shop I no longer frequent - focused too much on standover height and not enough on total bike fit. Went up a frame size and everything feel better - particularly my legs.

Not sure if it was the carbon fork or the "isozone" bars/grips, but the ride felt really smooth and not once did I have any pinky numbness, which I normally start to have about 3 miles in, so that was amazing. I did have some pain in my arthritic thumbs, but the shifters were positioned such that they were rubbing on my thumbs - tweaked the angle when I got home and predict no further issues.

I was looking at the FX 3 for other components more so than the carbon fork - only mentioned it in my title because, if you haven't seen my previous thread, I was concerned about a larger clyde such as myself on a carbon fork. You guys helped me feel better, and the guys at my local Trek store really eased my concerns. BTW, if you're near Cincinnati, the Trek store in Northern KY has the best service of any bike store I have ever frequented.

Focused on standover height on a bike with a sloping top tube? are your legs disproportionately short or something?

My legs are ridiculously short for my height - I'm 6'1" with a 30" inseam :)

What a lovely bicycle. I like your personal saddle. Stand over height is only really important if you are mountain biking. A high bar can pole vault you down the cliff if you can't reach the ground when stopped by something. I've had this type of problem only when mountain biking. All my bikes have old school high stand over heights and are never a safety hazard in city/country paved and gravel roads. So so many dull black bicycles. Hooray for providing some nice color to the byways. Good luck with your new ride.

Congrats. I remember you on the fence about FX2 vs FX3. I personally was in the same boat, but between the Dual Sport and FX bikes. I ended up with a Dual Sport 2 and I couldn't be happier, but I'm really loving the red of your bike. Glad it's working out well for you!
