And you thought your seatpost was stuck.
I felt that first little give and thought i got it. http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...psic9hux6m.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...psp4lga2pe.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...pszz9ryfh9.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...psbaebdfwk.jpg |
If it wasn't so sad I would be impressed.
|
egad? Were you removing it with the jaws of life?
|
I really didn’t go crazy, put the post in a vise and tried twisting it. The Jaws did cross my mind though. |

Bummer. I can't imagine what it felt like to think it broke loose only to see what really happened. I hope this was not a friend's bike that you volunteered to help out with.
|
Epic!

"Frames wrecked, might as well try and save the seat post"
Pics or it didn't happen https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1c0fb4c913.jpg |
Found the bike in the trash. |
Maybe Trek will replace it on warranty.
ouch indeed |
I guess it's strip and recycle time. At least there's parts to salvage, and better to melt down the 531 than bury it. Sorry for your loss!
|
I think more of a testament of your strength than the how stuck the post was.
I haven't been that strong since before I knew about sex! |
Good lawd...the twisted metal is just amazing.
On a side note...would you help me open my pickle jars? |
1986 400 Elance? Looks like the seat tube is made out of rubber. |
Impressive! |

Note to self: No arm wrestling with @sloar

Whew!!!!
It looks like frame restoration could be a major hassle!!! That looks like an era where things like rear dropouts are a major hassle to find replacements for. So, take your grinder and at least cut out the dropouts. Sell the fork on... etc. That seat tube lug looks in pretty bad shape. I don't know about other lugs. Bottom bracket shell? |
