Show us your Colnago Super, Mexico, Arabesque, Master...
This suggestion came down in another thread recently. Nobody picked up on it. So, without further ado, I'll start.
1974 Molteni Super (restored): http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4088/...5a4ffcac_b.jpg 1983 Mexico (original): https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5129/...9b94e63a_b.jpg Let's see some more of Ernesto's eye candy :) DD |
I'll play because I have just finished building my mid 80's Mexico. (Not period correct I know, but I put on campy stuff that I thought fitted this bike well, mostly chorus but with some later and earlier touches )

From the airbrush era, Master Light, which doesn't get ridden nearly as much as it should...

1976 Super built as an "Eddy tribute" bike, not a restoration of a true model:

I'm happy to show off my Colnagos:

I have a modern interpretation of that beauty but I may prefer yours! http://ouyang.smugmug.com/Bicycles/C...4_WUzn3-XL.jpg http://ouyang.smugmug.com/Bicycles/C...2_SmCgk-XL.jpg http://ouyang.smugmug.com/Bicycles/C...8_DrBpt-XL.jpg http://ouyang.smugmug.com/Bicycles/C...5_YDRUj-XL.jpg Apologies. The brakes have since been changed to silver Record differentials (not the skeleton), and the seatpost to a nice Campagnolo steel Centaur from 2003. |
My 1993 "Wordperfect" Elegant.
Garage dust, from sitting in a garage for the last five years. The bike, not me. :) http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6006/...fb5fa224_o.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6144/...0f7e768d_o.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6239/...4ee90613_o.jpg |

Here's my first Colnago, an '89 Spiral Conic SLX. I had it built up with Record 9, when I picked up my pre-B Stay C40, I set up the Spiral Conic as a fixxie.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=226155 Attachment 226157 Here's the C40: Attachment 226158 Here's the Crystal I built for racing but gave to my teenage son when he outgrew a lesser bike. I'm using a blue Dream for racing and as my bike that gets shipped for riding "elsewhere". Attachment 226159 Here's a recent addition to the stable, a mid-90s steel cyclocross bike. I haven't been able to learn much about this bike...Colnago Italy confirmed they built some, but that was about it. I've built it up with Record 1x10. I am also building up Dream CX with Record 2x10, needs a chain and cables and it will be done. Pics to follow. Attachment 226160 Here's the C50, the Alpha dog of the collection. Attachment 226161 Wonder what's next? (Oh right, the Raleigh Team Pro!) |
My first road bike.
Purchaed it as pictured* for $300 Australian Dollhairs http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/6848/dscf6003t.jpg currently being built up with sram rival and open pros. Sold the Deltas, Campagnolo super record seatpost, Cinelli stem, Front derialur, BB and crankset for 570ish. and here is what the paint should look like http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Colnago-Pista...4RCm!~~0_3.JPG |

1983 superissimo, columbus SL. Quick release saronni red paint. Going campy 10 speed with 1400g wheels over the winter. It should be interesting to see how people react to the colnago in group rides :thumb: |

Otis, how do you know that your bike is '76? I have gone over the "ballpark" dating guidelines on the CR list but I thought the 75,76 bikes were the same until the shorter rear dropouts appeared.
|
Yes, the engraving, I didn't notice it in the photo but do now. I can't tell if these are the shorter dropouts.

I believe Chuck Schmidt's well-known Super dating schema shows '76 as the first year for "Colnago" along with the club in the fork crown. (It also says '76 was first year for the shorter dropouts.) I always consider there to be overlap with model years, as I don't believe the changes happened in a chronologically tidy manner. But I would tend to go with '76 for a bike with "Colnago" in the crown. In any case, the info Chuck compiled does show differences between '75 and '76 Supers.

A long version of the N+1 theorem? DD General proof of the N+1 theorem is much harder to write down... either you get it, or you don't! (my mother doesn't :p ) Beautiful bikes in this thread, by the way! |
