Sunny blue skies and longer days bring thoughts of spring but dang it’s still chilly out there! High 40’s temps but a stiff icy wind made it feel colder. Got in 28 miles, stoping at the grocery store on the way home. Picked up some dropout adjusters from the LBS on the outbound leg, so pretty productive ride! For a change, here’s a pic without a wooden fence.

Got one last 30-mile check ride in before the rains come this evening. When I took this photo at Marymoor Park I didn't know if I was gonna get home dry or not:

Tubs now inflated to 105psi and a little squishy but the ride is still fast. Probably just going to take some time to get used to the feel. DD |

Built up the ‘85 Raleigh Gran Course with shiny Campy bits from @Brewsmith and took it for a shakedown ride this morning. Felt great! This frame has fairly steep angles compared to others in the fleet and can really dive into turns with a lot of confidence. Excellent climber out of the saddle, too. Definitely will be a regular rider.

First ride of 2021! Did 40 miles up to the fort. Temp in the low 40s/headwind coming back - brought home "frozen ham". Jerry Ortega sighting = 1

I got out for a nice shortish ride around the supply pond in town this afternoon. Lots of ongoing work clearing felled trees from a tornado that moved through this past August. The trails are largely clear of ice now and not a total muddy mess yet, nice and enjoyable.

One last ride on the Gios Torino before its taken to me LBS for some changes. New slightly longer brake cables/housing, bartape, and going from 40 to 42 width bars.

Another longer ride yesterday on the Paris-Sport, taking advantage of dry roads after a few days without rain. I left Weston through Locking and Banwell, then went through Sandford, Churchill, Langford, Blagdon, and Ubley before skirting Chew Valley Lake on the way through West and East Harptree. From there it was through Litton, Ston Easton, and Clapton, before joining the NCN24 Greenway in Midsomer Norton. This took me through Radstock, Shoscombe, and Stony Littleton, where I stopped for lunch on a bridge over the Wellow Brook.
After lunch my route went through Faulkland, Norton St. Philip, and Farleigh Hungerford, before taking the canal towpath at Bradford-on Avon. I followed the towpath through Avoncliff, Limpley Stoke, and Claverton into Bath, went through Bath via the Abbey, and then followed the Railway Path for 15 miles right into the centre of Bristol. Coming off a green cycleway straight into the middle of a big city is always a bit of a surprise, but Bristol now has some good cyclepaths and bus lanes and if you know your way around it's not a bad place to cycle at all. I left Bristol via the Portway along the Avon Gorge, passing under Clifton Suspension Bridge, and crossed the river via the cycle lane on the M5 bridge (incidentally, having gone through the centre of Bristol without a problem I had a near miss with someone who was taking a short cut on the cycle lane on a motorbike) going through Pill, Portbury, Clapton-in-Gordano, and meeting my wife in Clevedon. The ride was a little over 80 miles, another day of Spring weather when it's a privilege to be out on the bike in the countryside and seeing the sights. Today I did my first bike ride since it snowed in (I'm thinking) December 2019. So it has been 15 months. And the same amount of time since I spent much time reading BF. It is good to be back! The temperature was supposed to hit about 60 degF today, maybe 15 degrees warmer than normal. So my sweetie insisted I take a bike out. Since I've had my first covid shot and most people around here are mask-aware I took the Masi out for a spin. The fact that it was windy meant very little covid exposure even if anyone besides me was breathing heavily, and of course it meant harder work heading west. 34-mile ride after work today up to the Park Avenue boating ramp. It was 68 degrees, but large mountains of snow remained on the shoreline.
