Any other Cannondale riders or am I the only one?

I put my new Trail (pictured below) on Layaway at the LBS a week ago, but am going to change this to an upgraded Trail. This is the Trail 7, I've decided to go after the Trail 6 in yellow instead. Your not alone, well, maybe with the hybrid side. :foo: The Trail is a mountain bike.

I have a 2008 Cannondale Synapse Sport 5 (Shimano 105, Aluminum frame) and a 2014 Cannondale Quick CX 3. So no, you are not alone.
I'm the original owner on the Synapse and the second owner of the Quick CX. Both are great bikes for their intended purposes. I can ride the Synapse all day. And the Quick is fun as a casual rider for family rides, and as a utility/commuter. |
Thanks for the shoutout people. I was beginning to think I was all alone here amongst the many other bike brands. The drop bar synapse was my wish but my back surgery has deemed the Quick range the closest I can comfortably ride. The 3 has a Synapse inspired rear that is very comfortable and still responsive along with the carbon fork makes the old hands very happy.

As an aside, I wonder what it is with the neon colors in their paint that could allow them to fade over time. Cannondale is part of the Dorel family (GT, Schwinn, etc), and my daughter's GT Laguna Pro mountain bike has a similar decal warning that the neon graphics might fade. |

I live in NC and rode the yellow bike through the past summer with scorching sunny days and temps in the 90+ with no fading yet. My main ride has shifted to the black bike so we will see how this summer goes.

She started a bike club at her high school, and I provide a lot of the bikes, as kids can't or won't get their bikes to school for the club rides, so I ran across another deal on a late 80s Cannondale Road Bike (no other nomenclature than "Cannondale" on the bike) for $20! The gear cables could stand to be replaced, but other than that, it's solid, riding on 27 inch wheels. I then found a mid-level 1993 Cannondale H200 700C Hybrid at the Habitat for Humanity Restore for $40. It needed new tubes and tires, but looked like a bike that had been purchased and never ridden. Craigslist of Facebook led me to my new favorite road bike, a Cannondale R600. It has Shimano 105 all around, and rides like a dream. Finally, again on Facebook, I picked up a Cannondale Quick CX; for $100. The rear wheel needed trued, so add $30 that my LBS got from me, and it's still a fantastic deal. So, to recap: 1. Cannondale Quick 5 2. Cannondale T900 (sold) 3. 1985 Cannondale Road Bike X 2 4. Cannondale H200 (I'll probably sell it in the spring, as it's just a bit small for me, and, seriously, I don't need it) 5. Cannondale R600 Road Bike 6. Cannondale Quick CX Honestly, I didn't find most of these, they found ME! |

Cannondale rider here +1 I was just wondering "How come there are so little Cannondale riders?" And of course we are the hybrid bunch. Two years ago , I went to a boutique bike shop and saw a Cannondale SuperSix, CAAD10 or 12. And I liked the colors and components of the Cannondale line. I bought a cheap road bike after only to find out they were to big. I didn't ride it much. Two years later, last year, the urge to buy a new bike came back. I learned about what I really wanted in a bicycle from the cheap bike. I had a budget of US$2000. It was a funny number because usually a good carbon bike would cost US$3000+. To spend that kind of money, I had to really , really like it. They ended up being Aero bikes that I would probably never like to ride due to their stiffness and aggressive posture. I ended up buying this Bad Boy 1. I loved the little features it had. You can tell, in every detail, they have thought it through for it to be fun. But at the same time, they saved on parts that can be cheaper to make this bike affordable. You can just leave it alone, and the parts works fine. At the same time, getting into upgrades, you can see there is potential on this bike that could make its future fun. The downside is this bike is not meant to be light. 650b wheels and 40mm tires. Internal gears and all. This bike rides with silence due to the Gates Carbon drive. The chain sounds you make when you stop peddling isn't there. And you don't have to peddle to change gears. Very low maintenence so far. It feels solid enough to be a touring bike. Just add racks on them. It feels fast enough too. I ride in the cities with scooters and cars, thus I needed a rear view mirror. 35km/hr in the city already feels to fast and dangerous. It can do it just fine with gears left. I got lots of compliments for this bike. Mostly people who know bikes. Team riders resting, Bike shop owners, expensive bike owners, food vendors...etc. Cannondale gets a certain respect. It seems they find non-road bike parts very interesting. They would ask me whether they can touch and feel my carbon drive. Most people are on 105s, Ultegras, Dura-Aces..etc. "What is the belt made of..some sort of rubber?", they asked. "I don't know...some kind of carbon...rubber..yeah. This company makes these carbon-is belts for race cars.", I improvised. "I doesn't make much sound and no grease". "How about lights? Batteries?" "Yeah..seat post have batteries, the front is USB charged." "Wow , really nice components!" "Thanks!" (I thought to myself, money well spent, I bet I wouldn't get this much attention if I had a Dura Ace group set. I wish it had hologram spider web on it though ). (The wheel have reflective spokes and I was using flash on my phone camera). |

As a Cannondale owner, I don't understand the loyalty to the brand anymore.
After production stopped in the US, they were no longer desirable, or unique. There are plenty of similar options that are more affordable. A lefty, for a bike that gets ridden on pavement? :foo: |
I am not alone but we are certainly outnumbered. Thanks to the few that posted here that are loyal to the brand but I guess the reality is that this is not a fan base for the brand.
Not a problem as I do like my rides and have no reason to look elsewhere. Personal, I feel as long as you are riding a bike you are moving forward. Be safe all, see you around, Frank. |

My wife got a new 2018 Cannondale Adventure 2 today. It's the second Cannondale that she has owned. I'm new here so no pictures of her bright yellow hybrid.
