Chilcotins Tour 2015

My buddy and I just wrapped up a 6 day tour in the backcountry around Spruce Lake. We lucked out on the weather, but sadly a storm the previous winter resulted in a lot more bike-hiking than we had anticipated. :twitchy: https://farm1.staticflickr.com/385/1...839ba80e_b.jpg Although the views made up for a lot of hassle of getting our bikes and gear over/under/through blown down trees. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/374/2...63e63ba0_b.jpg You can see an interactive map here: Chilcotins 2015 Bikepacking Trip - Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, British Columbia https://farm1.staticflickr.com/461/1...7b021a24_b.jpg We rode mountain bikes with lightweight camping gear. That was essential for getting through the rougher sections of the route. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/395/2...54cfe57b_b.jpg Trip reports are here: - Days 1-3 - Days 4-5 - Day 6 https://farm1.staticflickr.com/328/2...97610379_b.jpg If you just want to check photos they are here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/vikapp...57656341349258 https://farm1.staticflickr.com/566/1...a0e06670_b.jpg We saw lots of bear scat/tracks as well as wolf tracks, but only ran into one grizzly bear who was more interested in eating berries than worried about what two bikers were doing in his kitchen. ;) https://farm1.staticflickr.com/524/1...6e915a4d_b.jpg If you can get your head wrapped around the amount of hike-a-bike and the technical challenges of the riding it is a very rewarding place to tour. |
Looks incredible. Great trip!
