San Antonio?

I may have a job offer here and was hoping to get some insight on the area.

Anyone local want to share their opinions of the bike culture, riding season, or anything else about the area you think may be important to someone considering a move?

I don't have much to say regarding the open ended question, for the bike centric topic a few comments. The riding season is year round. There are a few somewhat limited urban bike paths, one is central city and scenic. Regularly scheduled group rides for road cyclists are mostly in the Northeast, North central, and Northwest Bexar county areas. Challenging hills can found near the city limits; very tough hills are about 1.5 hours by car, a few are closer, this includes both road and off road riding. Flatlands are South and East, hills North and West.

As for bike culture, some segments are stereotypical, and others are mutant crossovers. Non-bike-owner attitudes run the gamut of juvenile & redneck bike-phobic jerkism, to considerate automotive road sharing.

I haven't ridden with these folks in ten years http://www.sawheelmen.com/, so I'm not up to date on the group, but I think they are probably still well suited for mature riders, and generously accepting of beginners. As I mentioned earlier, there are plenty of organized and loosely organized group ride opportunities throughout the week. There are also frequent competitive events in the area. I ride solo in the hill country.

Check out the City of San Antonio bike website, this is the official site run by the city. There are probably many other resources just a Google (or yahoo) search away. I am very envious of you; my SO and I would love to move to SA, there just isn't much in my line of work.
