What do people put on aerobars/pursuit bars on the track? Normal bar tape? Skateboard tape? Plasti-dip?

Skateboard deck tape.

normal bar tape also works. some people leave them untaped, too

Thin bar tape for me. I could probably live without any on the skis though

I pursuit gloveless so find grip tape is good after racing without tape for years. Grip tape is lower profile than regular bar tape...

After trying totally tapeless on a trainer, there's no way that's an option for the base bar. Extensions, maybe, but if I'm getting deck tape anyhow I'll probably put a strip on the back side of either.

Do you think MKS custom Nuevo + toe cage + strap and cleat(Bicycle Shoe Cleats for Toeclip Pedals $29.95 at Yellow Jersey) for clip pedal set up is horrible for track races. I really like MKS pedals, they are so~~~ smooth. Should I use clipless pedal, if I'm comfortable with my clio pedal?

If you are only using sneakers with your MKS pedals, then you are at a serious performance disadvantage. Clipless pedals are far superior.

If you are using cycling shoes with slotted cleats that go into your MKS pedals, then, I don't know, there's not much of a performance disadvantage compared to clipless pedals, but I don't know why you'd want to use them except to feel retro.

Of course I'm using cycling shoes. I'm using this pedal, because I wanted secure strap. Also it was much more cheaper than clipless pedal. I got this pedal for only 50bucks on ebay.

They are inexpensive for a reason.

Pass on them and get standard Shimano, LOOK, or Speedplay clipless pedals. You can get Shimano pedals for cheap or pay more for super nice bearings. Look for older SPD-SL pedals that don't have carbon body, like the Dura Ace PD7810 or the Ultegra variant if you want nice bearings. But the base model stuff is very good, too.

When you start getting picky about having "nice bearings", then you'll need to reach for your big wallet :D

But i think mks is much more smoother.

Here's the thing, people don't use them for a reason. Yes, Japanese Keirin racers use them...but only because they have to. Old style toe clip pedals are a pain in the arse to use compared to modern clipless.

There are a few guys that use them (like Babypuke here on BF (a Japanese Keirin student/racer)). But, 99.999% of other trackies do not. When in doubt, do with 99.999% of everyone is doing :D

Also, don't get hung up on smoothness. Seriously.

Yeah, you may be able to feel a difference when you spin the spindle with your fingers. But, you won't feel a difference in your feet.

I'm The Princess and the Pea when it comes to bike feel and I've never had issues with various pedals...and I've tried LOTS of them, including the coveted Shimano Dura Ace PD-7400

I mean, if you already have stuff and it works well enough to be safe, run what you brung. I wouldn't put more money than you already have into them.

I had never even heard of the country before seeing him at PanAm last month (qualified 7th). Amazing he even got into the sport.

BTW, I was there Friday afternoon and evening watching the sprint competition. Lot's of action to watch. The Kiwi's have done well and have been around most of the Summer, but I'm surprised they are leaving right before the last UCI race night of the season.

This past LA Gran Prix was live streamed, and I saw him race in that. I believe he came in second in that comp, can't easily find results. Very fast.

I'm looking for info on the 2015 Pan Am Masters track championships to be held in Puerto Rico this year.

At each stage finish of he US Pro Challenge stage race this week the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company had a roller race competition (best time each day for 250m). Although the bike set up was terrible (no seat height adjustment, freewheel, low gear, platform peddles) the computer software looked great. Where can I buy such a set-up (software and associated speed measurement equipment)?
