Trek Multitrack 720
A neighbor mentioned her sister was looking for a bike, because I'm that guy, and another neighbor mentioned she wanted to get ride of a bike... So here we are.
It's a very good condition trek 720 with a chromoly sticker, lower end Shimano parts, and araya wheels...cleaned up dust and dirt and replaced Shimano cantilevers with vbrakes from the bin. Tires are original and in really good basement kept condition. Nice bike for $100 from one neighbor to another with some time contributed by me. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...7a0041d56e.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...f337735167.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...2091fb5663.jpg |
Nice going! Neighbor helping neighbor, helping neighbor!

Nice! Some serious tire clearance on that frame.

That's a nice looking bike!
It's really clean, the fork is graceful and looks like it'd be fun to ride! |
Thanks all.. I'm sure she'll like it.. Prices of bikes in Toronto have gone stupid this year with coronavirus. I gave her a bell and a water bottle cage as well from the stash..I'll have the neighbors complete the deal so they can meet and expand the neighborhood...

These make great bikes for beginner and casual cyclists. Keep in mind for next time though that you should swap to the correct brake levers when you put V-brakes on a bike (different amounts of cable pull for a V-brake vs canti).

I was going to change the brake levers as well but the one thing I don't have left in my stash is grip shift grips.. The brakes do work well regardless but the levers do pull back more than on my mtbs.

I rehabbed this one for my niece a few weeks ago - also $100. These are selling for $150-200 around here these days. That light blue is beautiful!

I could only find this one old picture of my original 700 Multitrack. I remember it originally came equipped with grip shifters & plastic brake levers & plastic cantilever brake calipers. I got it on sale in 1994 & rode it off & on for over 25 years. I replaced the grip shifters with thumb shifters. Cleaned it up & replaced the chain, seat, pedals, wheel bearings & grease and, sold it off about a year ago. It was a really solid, good riding, well behaved bike.
