Are you an MTB Lifehacker? Share!!!

This weekend, I made a DIY inner tube chainstay protector like the one illustrated on MTBTips.com. I cut the tube in half lengthwise and wrapped the single layer with a half width overlap so there's two layers of rubber covering the frame but it wasn't quite so bulky and heavy as using the whole tube.

I later cleaned out my Camelbak reservoir and realized that a couple hangers would make a really simple and effective dryer hanger for it since I don't have the Antidote Cleaning Kit with the bespoke hanger Camelbak makes for it.

What simple "LifeHacker" style tips could you share for MTB'ers?

There are reflector brackets that come on Wally BSO's that can be adapted to carry a small flashlight, to use as a headlight when you don't want to spend $300 for one. (I have since found a good one for <$30 that I will acquire in a few months) These reflectors have a small adjustable flange that carries the reflector itself, parallel with the bar. Two simple brake pads can make a stable cradle for the light, strap it on with elastic. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=346770

Joy, My lifehacker solution to photo one is simple, It's paint. Much lighter than what you have and came free when I bought the bike! (not to mention, already applied)

Photo two, well that's a bit harder, I empty my water bottle, leaving the top open and chuck it in the hot water cupboard, stays dry (actually dries it self!), Dry bottles don't grow anything.

;)

^ Funny, but I was hoping for valid tips rather than mockery.

Joyota, I like the stuff you posted. I have already made notes and plan on using both.

Stuff I invent doesn't last long enough to take a picture of.

Very cool, what'd you use to shave down the skateboard wheel?

Drill press and a coarse flat file.

Thx on the skibike project. It's been languishing too long - - gotta finish it this fall.
