Help with first build
 

Going to try fixing up an old MTB and have a couple questions as this would be my first build experience. I would like a 2 motor setup (not an electrical engineer but can get their help) with 2 controllers and use one battery. Proposed setup as follows:
2 MXUS 250w 36v hub motors
2 36/48v 15 amp controllers
1 LCD dsplay generic
1 PAS sensor generic
1 thumb throttle generic
1 set of ebrake levers
2 36v 17ah batteries (one for ride to the beach and everyday commute, the other for using on the trails so I won't have to conserve power for the ride home)

Expected bike weight with rider is 260 lbs/ 119 kg


Questions I have:

1) would a cycle analyst be required/recommended?
2) will 250w / 36v be sufficient (not looking for speed above 20 mph)?
3) anyone ever order from elecycle and what was your experience?

If this is your first build, I'd suggest doing one motor first and learn what's involved in ebike build. Then you can think about two motors.

Having done a two wheel system, and being a retired EE, I still chose to make my setup simple. I had a running rear motor system with LCD and controller, that had both throttle and a cadence sensor. I added a front motor using a separate controller (not the same model), with an LED display and made it throttle only, No PAS, and I kept the LED display in a bag. In order to run off one throttle, I would have needed to wire up a balance circuit because I had different models of controllers..

LCD's, by the way are not generic. You buy a controller, and you need a display that is compatible. Similarly. while some controllers can be powered up w/o a display, they default to a PAS level that may not match what you have on the other controller.

Thinking about it a bit, it might be possible to connect a second controller of the same model as the first one to an LCD. Don't connect the receive data line.

Thanks for the reply. My plan does include ordering both motors and controllers and can be adjusted to install the rear wheel first then down the road install the front hub (if I don't then I have a spare motor and controller). My thinking is ordering identical controllers now could save me some headache when I install the other motor/controller. Sorry for using the term generic, it would be matched to the controller but thank you for the advice (it is why I am here). Hoping for a response about the seller, research so far seems ok but always like to confirm.
