I guess that means that I don't get the 7.6 for 2 bills, huh********** Butttttt, why the baby rings on the crank, in Florida? Maybe a 50-40-30.....

Friday, and yesterday, I spent tuning, cleaning, adjusting, fixing, my son and daughter in laws' Expeditions. Yes, of course, I did the grandchildrens' first....... his Marin, and her Absolute 2.0. (The kids go faster)

Sorry I didn't see the part about why the baby rings, truth is that I've really been looking at gearing etc.. I am never going to need a 50 x 11 (just wasted gears) 15 MPH puts me right in the middle of the cassette, on the middle chain ring. and 20 mph puts me right in the middle of the cassette on the big chain ring. That's at 80-85 rpm's. There is plenty of gearing both high & low with this set up. (for me). And some granny gearing for bridges etc.. Like the mechanic at the LBS said, that gear I'm looking for is always there. No huge gaps so to speak.

And with this SLX MTB set up, plus the Deore MTB shifter's.. Shifts are lighting fast, & smooth under all conditions. Plus the stiffer chain rings, seem to be delivering more power. You would have to ride it to understand, even the mechanic that put it together was impressed. I can shift the front as fast (almost) as some can the rear cassette :speedy:

Finally pulled the trigger and bought a Selle SMP TRK saddle tonight to replace the stock Avenir on my Misceo 2.0 - should have it delivered and on the bike by Wednesday :)

gitarzan 06-09-13 09:33 PM

I started putting one together. A 2006-7 Miele frame. A few new parts, a bunch of stuff left over from old projects.

Got a wheel set, tires, tubes, and some brakes on the way. Maybe wrap it up next weekend.

As part of my learning to weld, I made a trailer hitch attachment out of metal scraps I had liying around. Not the prettiest welds in the world http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/e...psc4daa20e.jpg
but I hope it will hold...

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=323457 There really an improvement over my plastic Wellgo's. :thumb:

Also another surprise, was waiting for me in the mail box. A Bike CONSOLE UNIVERSAL 4.8, it was sent to me by "Bike2Power.com" for a review. Just reading over the box, and looking at it. This appears to be a really quality product. I'm excited to try out on my smartphone. Who knows it might replace the Garmin. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=323458

Started my "Add bling to my bike" project. Will post pics when done.

FeuRouge 06-15-13 09:51 PM

Rode 21.5 miles (a new distance best for me as I'm just getting back onto 2 wheels) and then knocked the dust off it.

stevenlsmith87 06-15-13 11:08 PM

Wrote about it on my new blog here!!

Or....you can just read here...I to my bike to my LBS to have its 30 inspection/tune-up, then I took her on a 4 mile run to make sure they fixed some minor shifting issues.

The welds are big enough so should hold, they sure are ugly though :thumb:

Jbc you have great taste in bikes, what platforms would you install ? I still can return these to REI. They work awesome, but do look funny.. LOL http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=323585

jbchybridrider 06-17-13 06:14 AM

They look good and suit "your" bike which is why you bought them right!
I also like the ones Rise000 fitted to his bike > http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/9130/88401116.jpg

I have on my 29er the cheap and nasty Wellgo's I'm to :o'ed to show but I have some awesome Ritchey SPD's I'm not using yet because I don't have the shoe's yet.

Ok, I pretty much finished my "Add color to my Bike" project. Since my Giant Escape 2 is grey and black I decided to go with gold accents. I got gold Wellgo pedals, Origin 8 seatpost, tire valves, and a gold origin 8 stem cap, here's some pics.

http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=324240http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=324245http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=324247http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=324248http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=324249http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=324251

The yellow tape is not part of the project, it's reflective tape because I ride mostly at night. I'm just waiting for my Panaracer Ribmo tires to come in the mail. I think I'm going to get a couple of gold 5mm spacers too. My future buy is to get Ergon GP 5 grips/bar ends. I feel like I got a new bike, amazing what a little color can do. :thumb:

Ed702 06-19-13 12:20 PM

Replaced the OE pedals on my Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc with a pair of black and silver MKS Sylvan Touring pedals, and finished building a stand to work in conjunction with a vehicle bike rack for easier maintenance.

ikaika777 06-20-13 10:28 AM

Put on new brake pads, Kool-Stop "salmons", now my brakes squeal louder than a fat girl when you take her cake away! I tried washing my rims with Dawn soap mixed with Simple Green then when that didn't work I used rubbing alcohol, nothing. I'm embarrassed to ride my bike especially since I ride late at night in residential neighborhoods. I could sneak up on the ancient Berserkers and scare the heck out of them. I toed the pads in but nothing helps.:bang:

bikeguyinvenice 06-20-13 10:35 AM

I just mounted a set of 700x28 Armadillos to replace the 700x38 Kendras that came on it. Pressure difference is silly, 85 for the Kendras vs 115-125 for the Arms, not sure if it's a good thing or not, the last bike I had that had high pressure tires like that broke spokes more often than not. I was told it was a problem during the time period that the bile would have been built, I was told that it was due to a whole batch of bad spokes out of china. We'll see what happens.

Just did some rare LBS shopping :D apposed to using the net.
Lovely new shoes & cleats, now I can use my new Ritchey SPD's I've had for a while. These will be used on all my Hybrid/MTB's from now on :thumb:

Those are some serious off road shoes. Mine are considered MTB shoes too, but mine don't have such an aggressive tread.

I may have the chance to buy cheap some 26" mavic disc wheels for my Hybrid.

Today I put my daughter's 26" x 1.75 wheels on my Hybrid to get an idea what it would look like. Basically everything is 1 cm shorter on all measurements. What do you think? Ok or not? BTW this 2007 model Cannondale badboy was initially designed to swap 700s and 26".

Dude your bike looks made for those wheels and seem like a good option to have in your components stash. I say if you can get them for the right price then go for it.

Couldn't get a straight answer on the price. He was drinking beer at the time and started telling me about how the tyres cost $70 each and then asking me to make an offer. The hubs were XT and rims Mavic Disc. I had no idea what to offer as to not insult him as they were in next to new condition. I don't need the wheels but thought they'd be hand to have around.
I senced the beer talking and gave up.
