Best place to purchase front and rear lights for Catrike Villager?
Where are good places to purchase front and rear lights for a Catrike Villager? Any suggestions?
Thanks, Scubaquarius |
What riding conditions? Daytime running lights? If at night are you going to be riding in places that are well lit already? On road off-road trail riding? What is your budget?
You can find suitable lights at almost every bike shop and even at mass merchandisers like Walmart. You will get a much better selection online and probably pay less for the same light. Only 3 brands are still made in the US according to the Bike Light Database website. They are also the most expensive. I've seen the exact same light sold under different brand names with widely varying prices online. You can see a side-by-side comparison of many bike lights sold by your LBS at Bike Light Database but they never cover the many inexpensive lights without a brand name. There have been many posts in General Cycling Discussion and the Electronics, Lighting, and Gadget subforums complaining about lights being too bright, flashing, or misaimed if you ride trails with oncoming bike riders. . I'm happy just using two inexpensive USB rechargeable lights for daytime use and an XML-T6 LED flashlight as my night headlight. It's cheap and unlike most regular bike lights of similar output you can switch out the rechargeable Li-ion battery for a fully charged one in an instant. |
Thanks for the great information. I am just using the lights for daytime safety.

I would check with Catrike first. They probably have some light accessories that fit right on their trikes.

"check with Catrike first"
Nope. They don't have any accessories that are related to lights. Terracycle ($$$) has them. Many of those can be found on eBay in a similar form for a whole lot less. Even Utah Trikes mostly carries TC accessory mounts and nothing specifically for Catrike light mounts. |
