New bottle cages needed!
 

We have black aluminum cages on our touring bikes and after this last tour I am tired of all the marks and stuff that get on the bottles. On one cage, I tossed yesterday, it was leaving a residue that I could not scrub off and it would get on my hands.
So suggestions for replacements that will hold up to long tours??

King stainless steel cages. Holds bottles tight. Won't leave marks. Made in the U.S.A. I have them on my road bike.

$60 water bottle cages... lol

The King ti cages are $60. The Silca is $70. The King stainless are only $18. Great product. Mine are over 4 years old and look brand new. Met him at the Philly Bike Expo. My friend mentioned that one of hers broke. (Bike was transported nearly across the county unboxed on a trailer. We suspect another bike's pedal damaged it.) He flipped her a new one on the spot. Nice gesture.

I will second the recommendation for King stainless cages.

The original post didn't ask, but if you want to splurge, then it has to be King titanium, Silca titanium, or Arundel carbon. Conventional roadie fashion sense would suggest titanium cages with a steel bike. Ti bikes could get either. Carbon bikes should probably lean carbon. I'm going to guess that alloy bikes can also get either. But that's convention.

I have both King and Elite stainless cages on different bikes. I prefer Elite since they have rubber inserts that hold the bottle better. Sometimes I loose a bottle with King cages

OP, if you want an excellent cage with a reasonable price tag that does what you are asking for look no further than the simple Arundel Sport cage. I've tried a lot of different cages. These go on all my bikes.

The OP tours. Touring bike like to fall over on occasion when unmanned. Broken at least one cage that way. Are plastic and/or CF cages more prone to damage? I use heavy duty, colored steel cages on my touring bike. Have a little discoloration of my bottles, but I am not concerned about it.

King Iris are the most secure I have found, but all the stainless cages are good for paved tours. I personally wouldn't put titanium, carbon or plastic cages on my touring bike.
