Anyone Using Suspension Seatpost?
 

I am going to build a hardtail 29er. I am an older guy who rides non-technical single track and jeep trails. I was thinking about springing for a Cane Creek suspension seatpost. Are any of you using a suspension seatpost, and if so what are your thoughts?

I've mentioned this a couple of times. I found a Sartori Harmony, very reasonable price. I'm an old guy, ride a variety of surfaces, paved, unpaved and gravel. It takes the sting out the bumps and potholes. Worth a look. I have one on both my bikes, a gravel bike and a Trek DS.

P.S. couldn't bring myself to spend $100-$200 on a seat post.

I tried a thudbuster and hated it. I have 2 Brooks Flyer saddles (sprung B17), and like them a lot.

Suspension seat posts change the geometry of the bike when you are riding them. If you are trying to "soften" your hard tail a full suspension bike would be the better bet.

About as good as an idea as the suspension stem.

Maybe look into getting a steel/ti frame with a bit more compliance in the rear end. That might get you the extra comfort you're after.

I put a SR Suntour SP12 NCX on my hardtail and I wouldn't be without it. As far as changing the geometry of the bike it hardly negotiable, but it sure takes some shock out of the holes.

I am building up a Lynskey Ti bike. I will probably build it with a standard post then if I need a little more cushioning I can switch.

They are excellent love the ST version using it now on my Gary Fisher HT

I have an ancient Rockshox with a rubber insert on my hardtail, and a newer (cheaper) Nashbar on my hybrid. I think they worked/work...therefore, they did/do. I just purchased a full suspension MTB (a significant upgrade in cushiness over the hardtail) and have a Domane road bike...anything to protect my +60yo back.
