Here's a nice Strava challenge for you longer riding clydes

http://app.strava.com/challenges/bmc-79-mile-challenge

aside from weather, it looks eminently doable, unlike some of their challenges. Enjoy!

IBOHUNT 10-15-12 01:50 PM

The dag gum thing don't start till until 16 Nov.
Too bad it's not earlier in the year or I'd be all over that like a witch on a broom

TrojanHorse 10-15-12 02:57 PM

Yeah, the timing is tight... you have 3 days to get in a single 79+ mile ride. Aside from setting aside some time, it won't be hard in SoCal at all. Might be hard in Canada. :)

Black wallnut 10-15-12 03:14 PM

Should be able to complete this one as long as it is not snowing.

Dad 2 3 10-15-12 04:38 PM

I'm in!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully it's not snowing here.

Thanks TrojanHorse.

jsigone 10-15-12 04:43 PM

good thing I didn't plan a ride for that saturday yet, I do have my baby shower sunday so that won't work.

Signed up "just in case" i hit it

Beachgrad05 10-15-12 04:44 PM

My issue is that we have tickets to see Rush at the Honda Ctr on Nov 17....and I go back to working 5 days a week before then...so can't fit it on the Friday. I signed up...If I can do it on the Saturday I should be able to knock this out.

TrojanHorse 10-15-12 05:40 PM

Well, I only have one possible day out of those three, so I'll just have to set aside three hours and knock it out. :innocent:

jsigone 10-15-12 05:49 PM

3 hours!!! You want to tow me behind you so I can get credit too:lol:

st3venb 10-15-12 06:44 PM

This falls on the weekend of the Tour de Tuscon... and I'm doing the 111 mile route.. so np. :D

vesteroid 10-15-12 07:00 PM

vesteroid 10-15-12 07:50 PM

Im in! Will be my biggest challenge yet. Next thing is choose the route, I havent done more than 50 miles in one day so I will probably go flat instead of hitting the mountains. Will flip a coin for it.

TrojanHorse 10-16-12 12:33 PM

Should be a piece of cake on that new Venge you got... what did you ever do about that? Did you test one? I'm afraid to... :D

volosong 10-16-12 01:14 PM

Thanks for the notice, TH. I'm in. Now, to map out the route. Open weekend so far, so might do it twice ... or thrice, (we're off ever other Friday, and the 16th is off).

felt like it wasnt enough you know... :) In all honestly I rode a carbon fiber bike and didnt like it much over my FELT. Scott FOIL 15 with Ui2 to be precise. I feel that riding a carbon bike is more like riding a honda sports bike and riding an alum bike is more like riding my ducati. Even though the honda might be faster or smoother the ducati just has a bit more soul to it with its rattle and attitude.

With enough BS said, I am looking at KTM bikes now and they seem to be some nice bikes.
