2016 Specialized Sirrus Pro Carbon - A stunning reverse on 2015's Drive Train
 

I stumbled across an ad for the 2016 Specialized Sirrus Pro Carbon on an Australian site advertising bikes for sale and I'm guessing that the 2015 Specialized Sirrus Pro Carbon was not a great sales success, for after only just 1 year being on sale, they have ditched the 1 x 11 40T Front, & 10-42T Rear setup and moved to a more traditional 2 chainring setup, with a 50/34T chainring/crank setup(11 speed).

The bike will have more top speed for those with strong enough legs, as there is about 25% more gear inches available per revolution, but hills will be slightly tougher, as the 2015 bike had a 42T cog on the rear cassette, compared to the 2016's 32T cog.

Sram & Magura have lost out to Shimano & FSA for gear levers, brakes, derailleurs & crank.

Specialized has also changed to what I see as a more desirable seat post, but your mileage might vary.

Never understood the 1 x 11 40T Front, & 10-42T Rear setup concept on a bike like the Sirrus, didn't make much sense. A 50/34 and 11/32 cassette will get you up 25%+ gradients without too much difficulty and a good top speed on the flats and downhills.

Still prefer the look of the pre-2015 Sirrus and if in the market for a new carbon flat bar bike today, would buy a Roubaix and put flat bars on it.

The Roubaix with a flat bar is an interesting idea but you have to spend $7500 to get disk brakes on the stock bike. The new Pro is cool but I wish they would get away from the matt black paint. I'm sure lots of people prefer it though.

As a big Sirrus lover i never like this kind of setups,i drove 1x11 2015 Pro Carbon and i decided to pick Elite and try to upgrade it.

It's not doing it for me, the extra large dorc disc on the rear wheel is pig ugly.

Are there any specs on the 2016 Sirrus Elite carbon on the website where you found the Expert and Pro carbon models?

I'll bet that they don't sell a huge amount of them - yuk!

I must admit that when I saw that Specialized had dropped the 1 x 11 setup on the Sirrus Pro Carbon, I thought that they had given it away altogether, rather than have the model one down use it instead.

Yep, it is what puts me off about it as well, in addition to the exorbitant replacement cost of that cassette.

The 2016 Pro looks a lot like the 2015 Expert--presuming those pics are accurate. Looks like the 2015 Expert was the right choice!

As i know from trusted source (friend @Dealer store), Sirrus Expert Carbon surpose to be 2 variants X1 with 1x11 drivetrain,and regular one with 2x1?
Elite Carbon crankset changed from FSA to Shimano,but no pics yet.

I'm thinking about buying a 2015 Sirrus Elite Carbon but I really want information about the 2016 model before I decide. I might want to wait for the newer model.

I were down at a Specialized Concept Store and they showed a picture of the new 2016 Sirrus Elite Carbon. It was not pleasant. The color scheme was similar to the Comp above (if not exactly like that).

I wonder if the online store has gotten the model photos backwards. The descriptions are accurate but don't really say much and could be cut / paste from the 2015 models generic marketing description. I'm saying this as I'm surprised that the 2015 Comp colour scheme is the the 2016 Expert's colours and vice versa. Seems strange.

the grey with the neon (hyperline) is the 2016 Expert (looks like the 2015 Comp). The 11 speed 105 Expert also comes in bright red. Additionally, there's a monochromatic-ish black/grey for the 1x11 model. The black with silver/red accents is the Pro.

that shows the frame to be 8r, but the specs I've seen show 9r, same as the current models. Interestingly, the Expert doesn't appear there either.

On a french website : Franscoop, le vélo par nature you can find the technicals specifications of some 2016 models. Just enter the name of the bike in the search engine. And you will see that the equipment list is a big joke than 2015 !

The Elite models lost the Sora triggers, replaced by micrSHIFT R9 triggers
The Auriga disk replaced the gemini disk
The compact crankset have been replaced by a FSA 48/32 T

For the Elite disc / Elite Carbon disk, that's very disappointed with an increase of the price by $110 / $220 !!! I planed to buy one of these two models and now I will reconsider this.

Have never used them, but microSHIFT triggers are supposed to be very good, but I agree it was cutting a corner from the Sora. As long as they preform well. I'm not going to be upset about it.

I have no basis to judge the brakes, other than to say that seems to have happened with many other brands as well. May be something Tektro is behind.

Crankset seems to be a preference thing to me. I can see people complaining about the gearing on the 2015's that used the Sora gears, being too high especially if they are buying a first bike and are not ready to any kind of hill. So this may be an attempt to move buyers from the somewhat lower geared (lower on the bottom end) Sirrus (Sport etc) with a triple crank to the somewhat higher priced models. This actually makes sense to me.

Lastly, as far as price rise, you can probable thank Greece, and overall slower European economies lowering the value of the Euro for that. The US dollar is comparatively strong worldwide right now, and there have been no significant price increases in the US. These two exchange rates, along with their relative exchange rates with Taiwan and China where the manufacturing is done, and import taxes are BIG players in relative prices. Not that some places just have a higher price for whatever reason.

Still sucks if your in one of the locations that gets hit.
