not too shabby. the stretch fabric is available on normal 511s anyways though.
|
I'm mostly interested in how water resistant these are? If they are pretty decent at staying dry it'd be worth it just to have a pair for rainy days, plus you'd never have to wash them, oh wait, I never wash my jeans anyways...
|
my friend got some, they look FLYYYYY
and pretty techy. i think they'd be great for misty rain or light rain with fenders. not good for downpours, but then again neither are my outliers... |
Not skinny enough.
But reflective pants are intriguing. Wonder what they feel like. They really look cheese grater on thighs. |
too bad they only got skinny people sizes...lolz...eh...: /
|
I would be interested to try some. But at $78 bucks a pair, I dont feel the need to.
|
They look nice, but I wish they came in a much darker wash, since they're bound to fade. Originally Prolly reported that the $78 version would have a rear zipper pocket, and the $50 version would not have the pocket. Now they are $50 and no pocket. Still cheaper than other tech pants like Swrve or Outlier, though.
From that image, they don't look like a 511 fit at all. Since I'm extra skinny, a 510 Super Skinny is barely 'slim' on me. I'd probably swim in these. |

Yea I have a couple pairs of 510's and they fit me perfectly, not too tight or loose. |
510's are more my speed. 511's are too baggy in the calves for me.
|
I also prefer 510s, even though they are too tight for the first few wears, they eventually stretch out nicely. However, for something that is water resistant, I can't imagine finding much else that look as good as a pair of 511s. Though $78 is a little high for me, but that's cause I'm cheap, when I start my assistantship I may pick up a pair.

U Lock Holder = Double the price
If I wanted to pay $80 for jeans I'm not typing in levis.com |

No way Im doing THAT to anyone on the road near me. Ill stick to my elastic waist pull ups. |
Definitely feel like the U-lock holder will be a weak point in the jeans after some rough use.

Yeah, the U-lock thing is pretty pointless unless you don't wear belts. Do they have a version without it that's cheaper?

The target market (meaning: slim, 20-something, inner-city dwelling, cycling, males who would actually wear this) can/will not spend $78 on a pair of jeans. Some will, but most won't. If they were $35 they would probably fly off the shelves and people would own multiple pair. I wear Levis 501 (non shrink-to-fit) exclusively. I will never pay the $60 MSRP for a pair. I wait for sales when they are around $35. I own about 7 pair (not counting those that I've retired). EDIT: "A" for effort. I'm glad that there are new products for cyclists. Especially from non-cycling companies. If they can figure out a way to lower the cost they will sell better. But, all of the technology and materials probably prevent that from happening. Cool project, though. And yeah. Low-rise probably isn't the best idea. |
I hate the low rise trend in jeans, which is partially why I prefer 510s, they sit a little higher with a longer zipper. But these have a higher back apparently, also, they come in khaki.

A few years ago they atleast started carrying 36 inseam and on rare occasion 38. These cut off at 34, and for that price I'd rather get something from Nau or another small company. |
damn they got nanotechnology
|
one would have thought they would have offered these in the "ex girlfriend" cut , rather than the straight leg one to attract hipper types ?
http://us.levi.com/product/index.jsp?productId=10911925 It is good to see non cycling companies make something with cycling in mind, Compared to Rapha trousers etc they are better priced. Still a little steep though and even steeper in the UK compared to the US. |
