That one is 1984 and doesn't have biopace. Coincidentally I have a Nishiki International with biopace and it was 1985 (the 84 had sugino cranks). So my wild assed guess is '85.

According to the Asian Serial Number Guide (sticky), it's a 1986.

About a week ago, I posted a response to this bicycle in another thread, stating that, "pending further evidence, the graphics and components suggest late 1980s, circa 1986-1987. Based on the Light Action rear derailleur, Shimano B124 triple crankset, Dia-Compe 981 cantilevers and 27" rims, it appears to be around the crossover from entry level to mid-range." Now that we have the serial number, 1986 is confirmed. Original MSRP was $369 US.

That seat post is seriously slammed down. If that's the way you ride it, that frame is too big for you. Also those Laprade posts are often fluted and will collect water and seize so if you haven't already pulled it and greased it, you should sooner than later.
