It is a Pocket Rocket and was told at the time it was the second one they made. It has been across the US twice with a group called PAC Tour. PAC is Pacific Atlantic Cycling and is run by Lon Haldeman and his wife Susan Notorangelo. Shimano 600 drive train. Roger |

MY NWT touring machine has moved on to a new home, where hopefully it will be enjoyed for many many more long trips. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...7f9de1b3e8.jpg My BF pakiT suits my life now better than the NWT. Love this bike! |
Is that a potato rack on the Pakit? :foo: |

Ah sooo... I will google Axiom rack. Nice peachy color. The handlebar post looks very long. Does it flex when you climb hills? And what is that long bolt (?) sticking out of the handlebar post? |

Purchased used. I swapped the flat bars and twist shifter to drop bars and brifters. 2. Air Glide. This one is really sweet on rough surfaces, with the titanium beam acting as a suspension seatpost, but in a different way, hard to describe. 3. Pocket Rocket Pro. Like the Tikit, purchased used (barely) and with flat bars. I swapped to drop bars and brifters. |

Chainring Size & Crankarm length
WOW! Guys, These Bikes look so good!!! Really make me want to buy one now...
Can anyone sharing some opinions about the size of the chainring/ Do you need triple or just double(52T / 39T) is enough for some hills climbing? And do you think you can feel the difference between 175mm crankarm and 170mm crankarm length? Thanks! |
I took my cranks from 170 to 165mm and there is a definite noticeable difference to me. As to gearing it all depends on how fit you are. Little wheels climb better imo so you may not need as many gears. Since none of it is proprietary, you can always make adjustments. Look at the gearing you actually use now, and caculate the gear inches then convert to 20" wheels. Can you get that spread in a double or do you currently actually use such a wide range that you can't comfortably achieve those gear inches in a double?
|
On my Purple BF in the above pictures I run front chain rings of 46/57 as in the picture. When I first got the bike I used a 46/60. Rear is a 12/28 eight speed. 170 crank arms as that is more dependent on the length of your legs not the gearing. Roger

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...707498c6ff.jpg My used New World Tourist with Dual-Drive 3-speed hub and 7-speed cassette and BF H-bars. I asked Bike Friday about the specs of the bike and found it was built for someone with similar body dimensions. It fits me well and has a great ride quality. Currently my favorite folder since its quick fold does not require removing the front wheel like my Ti Swift. |

Done 80km, 1.5km elevation up the Cameron Highlands in Malaysia. 2nd guy up to the mid point rest stop for lunch and 3rd guy to reach the hotel at the 80km mark out for about 15 riders (all on road bikes). So the gearing certainly works well. |
