What is this Bianchi?
 

So I picked up this frame last week. I know its a low end model looking at the stamped rear dropouts. But any idea what model this is or what it is made of? Has some nice lug work and looks like it sported centerpull brakes.Nice chrome fork crown. Serial number is on the head tube and says 1L21372. Thank you.

Based of the serial number format and location, it was manufactured in Italy during 1971. The model appears to be a Strada.

I had a feeling this was a “good one”, but didn’t want to jinx it for ya. 😉 Now that T-Mar has IDed it, you’re golden. Congrats. 👍

Cottered, rusty and crusty, that crank is a big deal to a point, hope it's all good. ;)

BB width?

BB shell width is presumably 70mm.

Chainrings are the same proprietary 128mm BCD units the very desirable cotterless aluminum Nervar Star crank takes. If you scrap the cranks, the rings are probably worth something on eBay. I am guessing 52-47, which was a very common Bianchi spec. through the 1960s.

T-Mar is correct (as always) regarding year of manufacture, with the leading 1 denoting 19x1. Based on components and frame design, x in this case is clearly 7.

This is the first Strada model have seen to be fitted with the cottered NERVAR Sport chainset. At this time it was standard on the next model Bianchi up the range, called the Record/Rekord.

The bicycle's Agrati bottom bracket shell is 70mm in width and Italian threaded.

Yep, would expect it to be 70mm and if original, which I assume it is then definitely should be kept for posterity at least, regardless of condition.

Can always be used for reference, placeholder or show, no way I would ever scrap any part of that crank. ;)

Took the bottom bracket out, since it's a slow work day. Looks like it may have been a repaint. It's Celeste underneath.

I took the power sander to it. It's all Celeste underneath. Yea!
