Got a Fat Bike for the summer and I'm hooked!

A friend of mine WON a very decently equipped fat bike from his tool dealer. It was free and he's moving, so he's letting me hold and ride it for the summer. I'm hooked! How did I not own one of these in the past!? Oh yeah, they're expensive, and I'm cheap and didn't know what I was missing.

Front suspension with a quick lock-out, 26x4 tires, too many gears. It's heavier than hell but it's a lot of fun. A little worried about how well my spare-tire bike rack will hold up to it. I may need to enlist some additional ratchet strapping or something. Set up nicely when he took delivery, though it looks like there's over-spray or something on everything. Weird. At least i don't feel bad about beating it up a bit!

Anyway, you guys are onto something special. I'm going to try to convince him to trade it or sell it to me at some point in the next few months. Super cool.

Nice set up. Don't let the skinny kids try and tell you that fatties are only for sand and snow :speedy:

And yes, if your legs are up to it, you can go places your 4X4 cannot go

That’s great that you ate enjoying it.

I would lose the kickstand if you are riding singletrack trails. But that’s just me.

Fatbikes are a blast even in hot climates with no snow I take mine to trails in the Texas hill country and it is like a monster truck. The fatty is a good break from the gravel grinder I ride all the time. Luckily my Nashbar bike rack sold the tire clamps for fatties so transport was accommodated. The bike while in transport will get some funny looks, like what the heck is that

I'm always drawn to my fattie when I want to go for a ride. The smiles-per-mile are just amazing and it brings a smile to other road users and pedestrians!

My other bikes are almost completely neglected, even when I'm determined to ride one of them. The fattie just sits there with a smug look on its face knowing it'll be the one that I choose.
