Portland, OR aluminum frame repair needed.
 

This is my Easy Racers Gold Rush recumbent. The head tube has cracked along the joint with the "down" tube. It's had a good life and now I'm trying to determine if it's worth saving.

I'd like to go back to the manufacturer, but they are apparently no longer doing business. (The original owner passed away 15 years ago and his replacements have not kept the business going.) The frame is 6061- I think- but I don't know if it was heat-treated after welding.

Does anyone want to guess if it's repairable? I can bring it to any location around Portland, Oregon if you want a closer look.

Google Bicycle frame builders Portland there are quite a number of reputable builders in your area. Take the frame to one of them to see if it is possible to replace the head tube.

In the 90s at C.A.T in Eugene, Jan had a workshop combining a couple old steel bikes
with plans from easy racer.. several people built their own in the shop, then ...

Replacing the whole thing may be Less Than replacing the head tube..
in machine shop time..
& the is the Post welding stress relieving solution heat treatment , to be considered

Spotted, LBS in Astoria has a used Vision LWB USS recumbent for sale..



Perhaps bring it to Ti Cycles* and have it replicated in Ti.. ?
