Bridgestone cb-2 price?

Hey! So I went to look at this bike yesterday. It seemed alright, fit my size perfectly, the guy replaced the seat, chain and put some new break wire pad things on... (yeah I'm no pro-bike builder), but the chain was messing up and he said he'd have it fixed tomorrow. He wants $170 for it. And he said it's 15 years old. ... some of the paint is chipped off but idk, what do you guys think? I feel like it should be $100-$115..and 170 is a bit much, but then again I might be wrong?

Any advice, suggestions are helpful.Thanks!!

Also this site won't let me post urls..pictures...ect. so if you guys want to see the bike I need 10 point on here..

With clean paint and ready-to-ride, $125 is about right.

I would agree with oddjob that a CB-2 is really only worth $125-150 in good working order with good paint. With minor issues and chipped paint $100. These were pretty basic commuters and the bike is likely 25-30 years old not 15 most of these were sold 1988-1991. This the sales photo for the 1988.

I see this thread is from back in 2017. I found this Bridgestone CB-2 today at my LBS. I am currently restoring a 1993 MB-4 and collect Bridgestone Bicycles. I know it is hard to see from the picture because of the other bikes but the bike looks to in decent shape other than the fact that it does not have the correct handlebars which can be easily swapped. The employee at the LBS (the owner who I know wasn't in) said that they want $400 for the bike. I thought that was ridiculous and then after reading this thread from 2017 it seems even crazier. I was thinking $200 max. Thoughts?

$400 is absurd. Even $200 is high given condition and the wrong bars. I realize Bridgestone fans will pay premiums but this smacks of someone taking it to extremes.

Thanks. I definitely agree... Let's see what a starting offer of $150 can get me.

Find a different bike shop :)

Or have the owner educate the staff

Or maybe the price tags got switched ???

Silly price. COVID tax ain't that high.

Good lord, to me that's a $50 bike, even with the Bridgestone Tax. The CB series are just low end mountain bikes branded as city commuters. A $150 offer is still Stumpjumper money to me. Please wait for something nicer and less crazily-priced.

If your considering that much money on a project bike that will probably need another hundred on top for consumables, you might as well be looking on ebay.

CB-1 on ebay

For the record I'm a fan...
