Walk of shame!
Today's ride was 8 miles and 800 ft. with 15% hills.
Was already tired after a 2 mile hill that lasted almost 20 mins. (5% to 16% grade) On the way back, first time I got off the bike and walked it. 15% grade. It was out of saddle, but I was in gear 1/1 already, so it was too low once out of saddle Got off and pushed until grade was back to 5%. Are there points in your ride where you get off and push? This must be hard if riding in a group. |
No need to feel shame during cross training. I have stopped on hill climbs for rather short breaks. I have abandoned my route or turned around early as well. I may have walked some hills when I first started but that's me. You do you.

2 options for the future:
1. Get stronger 2. Get lower gears Maybe both. |

Lower gears are available for those who need it. Also refer to Option 1 in my previous comment.

It's a good thought, but many are seduced by the siren song of a troll.

Doesn't talking about starving a trolling thread, ON THE TROLLING THREAD, kind of defeat the purpose?

Yeah, it's fun to whack them and it gives them the attention they seek. But....my mod says ignore them and they'll go away. I've never seen that happen here, hard for such a large number of folks to get united behind a plan. So confusing. :foo:
Or something like that. |

Yes, context is important. This one has been identified as a sock of a banned user but as you say, the thread can appear innocent until they start rolling with it. Usually they are much sneakier than the Abu girls!

...Walk of shame!...
Long ago I went to a 34T bail out cog on my freewheel. It was great and then... After a few years and a few walks... I went to a 34T chain ring up front. That was the kicker as when I went to my 1:1 it was time to go to my Size 12D. Yep... The Walk Of Shame to be sure... But Holy Mackerel Bat Man! Now I am running a 30T Chain Ring up front and still using my 34T bail out in the back! And I do that more often then I would like to admit! This getting old stuff is only for the strong... |
Walking, running and biking can all be good exercise and fun.
